Want a quote on something specific-PART 2-NEW & IMPROVED!

Options
Hello all!

IMPORTANT NOTE-17/5/2007. Please note from now on I will not be posting on the travel boards. I have always tried to help people & yesterday had some exclusive offers that really were moneysaving (ie no-one else could get them). I offered to send these by e-mail to anyone interested (I could not post on the board as the nature of who the deal is with & the prices are commercially confidential). A fair few of you asked for this info. However, there are 2 appointed 'owners' of this board who did not like me doing this. So.....the thread was taken down. I was accused of 'touting for business'. More than happy to help MSE'RS but call/e-mail me. I am in the process of moving so have not been about in the last 3 weeks (I await replies saying I'm allways like this but I do have a life!).Thanks by the way for the PM'S supporting me & saying how pathetic all this is. So it's goodbye from me. One last thing to think on....those that are here all day every day & are posting replies using the same links.......either they really really rate those companies (perhaps with the odd discount/incentive for themselves as they highlight these deals??!?) or so so love doing quotes for people for nothing that they are happy to be on here 24/7???! Bye bye all.

So it's goodbye from me.

After contacting some of the other 'TRAVEL BODS' (you know who you are!)-a decision has been made to close thread one. Please put all your requirements on here from now on.

Slightly amended rules! Please do not ask for help if you are not in a position to book straight away/by the next day. 24 hours in this game can mean holiday has gone OR gone up in price. A lot of time & effort goes in to doing a FULL search & it just wastes every time if you are not in a position to move with the deals found!

Please answer ALL requirement questions below. If all not answered-NO QUOTE!
Also please see here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=4774591#post4774591 regarding a boring but very important aspect-protection & bonding. .

Many of the fab deals found by the likes of savapenney, sloppy are absolutely brill, but in general they are not ATOL protected as the flights & accom are booked separately. In most cases just the flight is covered by ATOL & the accom is not. In the case of quotes with separate flights & accom with lo-cost airlines NOTHING is ATOL protected. This in no way is a criticism of the deals-they are FAB (why are you guys not agents??!) BUT as savvy moneysavers you should all look at both options-ATOL protected or 'split-contracts' (ie flight & accom shown separately). Many web companies (see my link) adopt the 'split-contract' route as obviously ATOL bonding does cost the Agent more & there is a slight loading on any ATOL package to cover fees, etc...but in many cases it can be as little as £15-£20 pp-in my opinion a small price to pay for ultimate protection!

As an example....we had some customers flying out with CT2 holidays to Tenerife (CT2 went bust last year) for Xmas-as we booked the deal as a full ATOL package-Co-Op Travel HAD to re-book & pay for new flights-in many cases we were over £150 pp out of pocket as the flights were much dearer! As a non-ATOL package YOU would have to source your own flight AT YOUR OWN COST. Another example-a Ryanair flight to Gerona was cancelled on the day for 'operational' reasons-a full refund was offered & small compensation-all other flights on that day were £150 a head more (the lo-cost flights were booked a year in advance) but WE had to re-book them (in this case on BA to Barcelona) at a large cost to us as it was an ATOL package. Booked as a 'split'-you're on your own. Another point to mention is overbooking. Spanish Hoteliers routinely overbook by 20%....now if they're going to 'bump' you out of your Hotel to another (i.e. you arrival & they're full!)....who are they most likely to 'bump'-a direct client who paid with their credit card or a large company giving them thousands of pax a year?

So....in light of the above any Agents on here who hold full ATOL licences (ATOL numbers can be checked on here http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=27) who wish to do an ATOL quote on say, a price found by sava/sloppy or indeed just a quote please can you title the answer ATOL QUOTE.

So to make it absolutely clear-any quotes and/or websites where the flight is selected FIRST then the accom. will not give you a fully ATOL protected package!

REQUIREMENTS WE NEED TO GIVE YOU A QUOTE!

1-1ST/LAST DATES TO GO
2-DURATION
3-PARTY SIZE & KIDS AGES (IF APPLICABLE)
4-BEST QUOTE SO FAR (IF APPLICABLE)
5-DESTINATION/RESORT WANTED
6-BOARD BASIS-IE ALL-INCLUSIVE, SELF-CATERING, HALF-BOARD
7-UK AIRPORTS TO GO FROM (BE AS FLEXIBLE AS POSS!)
8-MAXIMUM BUDGET (TO INCLUDE ALL EXTRAS-IE CARD CHARGES/TRANSFERS, ETC..)
9-ANYWHERE YOU WOULD NOT GO TO?
10-ARE NIGHT FLIGHTS ACCEPTABLE?
11-DO YOU REQUIRE AN IN-FLIGHT MEAL?
12-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS-IE KIDS CLUB, MUST BE QUIET, NEAR BEACH, SEPARATE BEDROOM, ETC..
13-DO YOU REQUIRE JUST THE CHEAPEST DEAL OR WOULD YOU LIKE A FULLY ATOL PROTECTED QUOTE TOO?

No credit card charges/booking fees for any quote from myself.

Please do bear with all the Travel Bods in here-if we're working it can take a little time to come back to you! If you need to speak to any of the Agents on here urgently then please PM/E-MAIL.

There are always people on here who can help!

Can we please keep this thread JUST for quotes-any cheap accom finds, feedback on this thread, etc please make a separate post on the main forum. Likewise-if you just have a general question please use main board!

Now...who's gonna be first (!!)

Chris!

Me lol I would like a month in Australia, flights from Newcastle leaving anytime next month,5 star hotel for about £100pp (2 adults going).
I am sure you can help me Chris.

Now being serious, asking for something as stupid as i have just done, will not be responded to so dont bother posting it in the 1st place.

Has the other thread been closed Chris? If not im sure people will still post there no matter what, and we could really do with the new one being a sticky.
I asked for it to be sticky a while ago and it was for a couple of weeks ,then the sticky was removed.

Have e-mailed finishrich (board guide) to close.

Do you think the above is better?

At least those agents that have a full ATOL will know if someone is JUST wanting rock-bottom price (irrespective of protection/bonding) or if they're prepared to spend a bit more for the total ATOL protection?

Hi-the whole thing can't be protected as the accom. is already booked (ie separate to flight). We won't compete with the likes of the lo-cost airlines-try http://www.skyscanner.com to find the cheapest flights.

  • last person to post on other thread and you shut it down, story of my life!

    Try again

    can anyone help?

Need good quality hotel (doesn't have to be flash but not Butlins abroad) 4/5 star
    8th to 20th May so 7 or 10 days.
Not taking any kids so pref not teeming with the little darlings
Pref have things to see/do/eat outside of hotel
Walking ability slightly impeded so unfortunately no trekking etc
    WARM/HOT
ages 43/49 so no 18-30's (memories)
Max budget £1000 per person inc food , drinks etc
Night flights no probs. Pref Manchester/Leeds bradford (live in York)
    Dont need insurance

Been looking at Gambia, Kairaba Hotel . Seems to hit all buttons.:o But gambia experience closed for easter so cant check avail etc.

Barbados/ St Lucia all inclusive? Almond Smugglers Cove (half built so cheap)

Anyone know of anywhere else would fit the bill. Like places where you get to experience local culture, hate idea of being stuck in hotel for duration.

Don't fancy Egypt (based on nothing so could be persuaded). Dominican Republic appears to be totally hotel centered (may be wrong). Cuba?

Been looking on blasted tinternet for 2 days & no further forward. Could still be sat here in May at this rate!

    Many thanks

PS. Done China, Jamaica, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Tunisia (worst holiday ever) Majorca, Ibiza , France, Turkey. Preferably not spain

Don't fancy Egypt? Check this http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Search?submit.y=9&returnTo=&where=body&geo=1&submit.x=22&q=carols+makadi+bay+&ssrc=r & this http://www.holidaywatchdog.com/34252-Hurghada-Carols_Makadi_Bay_Resort_Hotel-Holiday-Review.html out-our best seller!! Superb-would 'tick all your boxes' (!).

Top quality Hotel-yes-a bit 'remote' but on a private beach with plenty of trips, etc (sorry no 10 nights), could get you out there Co-Op Travel/ATOL protected all-inclusive from Manchester for £450/£460 ish (cheap or what!).

    PM me/mail me if interested.
