I ordered a new printer via Amazon from Pixmania. Due to despatch the 29th and nothing yet so emailed them. Got a "Dear Vustomer, whats your ordernumber?" (sic) reply.
I have re-emailed to say if not yet despatched I want a refund. Their price is good but it seems they may not be the best co to order from.
I wanted to put this here as they are a techie sales co, rather than in the Rants forum. I'm concerned about faulty goods, warranty issues if this is how they treat their Vustomers up front

I bought from them once. Rock bottom price and speedy delivery so I had no complaints.
They source from abroad so delivery might take longer than a UK source. It might also come with a foreign power plug plus an adapter. Mine did. I didn’t care, I have plenty of spare power leads.0 -
I ordered my printer off them couple of years ago, didn't realise it would be european plug and they simply supply a UK adapter. They also sent me someone else's printer as well. When I phoned to sort it out they wanted me to post it back to them myself and then claim back the postage!!!!"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I didn't realise it, but they are now part of the Dixons/Currys empire (for better or worse!). I only found out because there was an article in the paper saying that they have made a big loss due to some big warehouse fraud.

They are a nightmare to deal with, I ordered a Logitech PRO 5000 webcam from them last year. Delivery was prompt, but it was faulty out of the box.
They would not authorised a replacement or refund until I had returned it to them for them to test and confirm it was faulty. The camera was supplied from their UK distribution depot, but they would not accept any returns and insisted it was returned to a Paris address.
I spent six weeks emailing them trying to get some sort of reponse from them, they never even acknowledged they had received it. Eventually they confirmed it was faulty and would issue a refund, then after a further month they refunded an incorrect amount, only two thirds the price. Once again after several emails they admitted their mistake and finally refunded the difference.
I then had to send them a receipt for the cost of postage once again to the Paris address to get that refunded.
I would never ever order anything from them again.0 -
I've used them before but had one very bad experience which is why I won't use them again. Even if the price is slightly cheaper I'd rather use another company.
Basically we had a tft delivered. Upon it arriving we rejected it as the box had a massive chunk out if it and you could see the tft was damaged.
I phoned them. Asked them to send another as we'd rejected it. They said it would take 28 days as they need to investigate. Which in my opinion wasn't on. The problem was between them and the delivery company. To make me wait a month was unfair given that I hadn't done anything wrong.
They wouldn't send one sooner, so I cancelled and guess what. It takes 28 days to return the money. 35 days later still nothing back, so I contacted them and threatened contacting my solicitor (I luckily live with 2!) and the money went across within 2 days.
Won't be using them again though. I prefer to stick to places like Amazon we're upon sending stuff back I've had much better experiences. Having said that I'm just one person so remember to take it as just ones person's point of view."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I wouldnt buy from pixmania ever again even if they were cheaper by half the price of everywhere else.
I bought a camera early december as I was going to New York for New Year the camera arrived after 11 days, from france with a euro plu and adapter no problem.
The camera was faulty with a dead pixle on the sensor so I contacted them on the day I received and arranged for a return. The return was at my cost and they insist on a tracakable returns method it cost about £20 (yes you do claim it back) I was told the replacement would be sent out as soon as they received my faulty one back so it was cutting things fine but it should turn up before the trip.
Anyway getting later in the month after christmas and still no camera so I called them. They sent the camera to the manufacturer to see if it was faulty. I took it out of the box and took a few test photos saw the fault and started the returns process I had it less than 18 hours. I was told that the testing usually takes 28 days then it needs processing before a replacement can be sent out. what a joke I told them to cancel the order and give me a refund, I had to send this by fax.
after about 13 phone calls to france and countless emails I was told the order has been canceled and the refund process has begun.
I finally received the refund in March months after my order.
I ended up really happy as I managed to pick up the same camera in BH photo in NY for almost half the price of pixmania.
DON'T BUY FROM PIXMANIA0 -
Even though it's only anecdotal it's surprising how many regular techie posters seem to have had at least one bad experience with them. Although I only had one order (and I am pleased with my cheap printer) with them my experience was bad enough to not have any confidence in using them again."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Ordered a Logitech G5 from them via amazon marketplace. The box was opened and the mouse broken. Several emails were exchanged and ultimately, they denied responsibility. I sent a final email explaining that part of doing business in the UK was they had various responsibilities they could not escape and attached the DTI webpage link and threatened to inform amazon of the problems I had experienced and their replies.
I had my money back 2 days later as well, 5 days in total from returning their product to their 'central hub' which is a part of the Post Office in Coventry iirc, where all their returns are shipped from as freight. Which is the reason for it taking 28 days ... as they are too cheap to collect it sooner than every month.
Neeldess to say, I wouldn't purchase anything from them again. It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Thanks everyone. Lots of dissatisfied Vustomers then! I am going to contact amazon despite their small print about not being liable for their marketplace sellers.
Can I refuse delivery IF it arrives and just send it back with the courier as long as I've notified Pixmania? They haven't answered my last email from yesterday morning as yet.
If anyone's got a phone no for Pixmania that would be helpful.
Even if the printer arrs ok, don't like my chances with warranty issues in the future.
Thank you!0 -
I am returning for refund. They are trying to work out if it's been despatched or not. In the meantime, amazon got hold of me. Seems I got my credit card details phished for my trouble too (so that I am not sued, it can't be directly linked to this lot or amazon, let's just say that 3 of the 5 fraudulent transactions since that purchase are on amazon.co.uk so be warned). Seriously BAD Hair Day.0
