well worth a read for students too - not just their parents!
any chance you could make this a sticky so it's always at the top of the board?:happyhear0 -
Oh no -- the information about students and income tax is wrong!
The P38(S) form, which ensures students earnings are not taxed, only relates to VACATION work. If a student works all year round, as the guide suggests they might choose to do, they will pay income tax on their earnings under PAYE. Of course, if they earn less than basic tax allowance, they can claim it back at the end of the tax year.
Maybe you need to make this clearer? It is a common mistaken belief smong students that they do not have to pay income tax, and you have perpetuated it Martin!0 -
verys useful can I ask one question? Does the student loan for fees go straight to the uni tp pay fees? or does the student pay the uni? If so how often termly or yearly?
thanks0 -

Have to agree with this statement. I am currently a full-time student on work placement for 12 months and I am unable to claim back the tax I pay.0 -

I am a student still operating under the old Student Loans Company system.
I have a younger brother is is under the new system and it can get very confusing. When applying this year my brother did received a 60 page guide outling the the changes to the new system and the financial assistance he maybe be able to receive.0 -
