Am I the only one? Proving proof of income

Who gets twitchy with the idea of sending income proof to a DCA?
I've nothing to hide whatsoever but I wonder if they really DO need to see that proof or if it's just a way of checking up on you.

I would be too. Why else would they want it than to see if they can scrape more money out of you?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Do not send them anything apart from a postal order for £1 and requesting the consumer credit agreement they have. Bet your bottom dollar they dont have it. They have to comply with this request within 12 days, If they do not supply it they are then in default. Once that happens you do not need to pay anything else to them until they do supply it. And they are not allowed to chase the debt until it is produced. There is more about this but i need to get my other facts right before i write any more.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Do not contact them by phone. I have been having problems with some DCAs and they are sooooooooo not nice. And do not send them anything at the moment. Most of the DCAs buy the debts from organisations for as little as 6p in the pound depending on the quality of the debt and how old it is. And they will chase you for the whole amount if they can. And they will use some very underhand tactics to get you to acknowledge the debt to them. Let them prove you owe them money. Dont do their job for them. Am going to go and do a bit of studying on this. Speak soon chicks. xxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

orry i mean do not send them anything apart from the £1 and request for the CCA. also put in your letter you do not acknowledge this debt to your company. Sends them into a blind spin. Any possibility you could tell us a bit more such as who the DCA is and what the debt is for. And how much. Also they do have a tendency to add extra charges on top of original debt. I love taking these people on. By the way i am not trying to avoid paying what i owe but i want to pay it to the right people. Lets face it if someoe came up to you in the street, and said you owe me some money and i want it now without telling you who it was for, would you give it to them. Nope. Like hell you wouldnt.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well smashed, that'd be good news if I weren't admitting to the debt. I'm ok with that as I did spend it and have been in communication with them for a while now.
This is a DCA called DLC (Direct Legal & Collection) and they are working on behalf of Egg. I spoke to someone last week, trying to hash out a settlement figure and inititally offered 35% of the debt and called to talk it over after sending a letter first. The lady was actually (for a DC!) very nice and said that if I could stretch to a bit more, Egg would more likely go for it. Which is still £726 off the original debt so I'm not arguing over that.
Then she said I needed to send proof for Egg that I couldn't pay the entire debt. Which I'm actually happy to send since I cannot pay any more and it'll show but I don't like them knowing that much of my business.
Thing is, if I don't send it, I don't believe I'd get such a good deal, if I do send it, they might try (and will fail!) to eek more out of me.
Oh and lastly, this particular company have not added anything onto the original debt. Which is really surprising.:: BCSC #71 but now discharged! ::0 -
OK hun. Thanks for letting me know who it is for and the DCA. Am going to go and have a look at this agency and see who they are. Looking at your signature is like looking at my own debts. Welcome. Nightmare, Capitol one reclaiming from them, provident. oh my god what was i thinking of with that one. Barclaycard. How much in charges. Gonna get it all back. How old is the debt you have with egg. The thing is unless you get it in writing from them the offer i mean, then its a possibility the balance could go to another DCA. And they could start things all over again. This happened to me. Until i got wise to this tactic. Now i just tell them to take a leap. By way of a nice letter and a £1. Do you ring them or the other way round.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

ok, had a look at DLC. It appears they do not always buy debts from companies. But they are part of a group of DCAs. I would not honestly panic that your offer will go away re reduced payment to egg. Stick it out if you only want to pay the amount offered. Give youself time to think about it by requesting the CCA. They will put everything on hold for 28 days while they look into things. You should be able to offer Egg directly a sum of money in settlement. I have done this instead of letting the DCAs get commision. Keep updating. xxxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Exactly! How old is the debt you have with egg.
Well I only really defaulted in around October last year. The thing is unless you get it in writing from them the offer i mean, then its a possibility the balance could go to another DCA. And they could start things all over again.
I am not going to do anything unless I get it in writing first. I know of tons of people who've been burnt not taking the formal route.
Nah, this was just a call to see what was what since I wrote twice and heard nothing.Do you ring them or the other way round.
Well, they normally chase me but I have been known to call them. Especially to wind them up a little with asking for statements and such.
