what can i do?
have just found out that we owe nearly £7000, i didnt think it was that bad tho, as everything comes out on seperate dd's so we never thought about it, til i went to the bank for a review!!
was recomened that we get a consolidation loan and then just have the one payment going out, but we dont want to do this, so we need ways to make some extra cash
was thinking along the lines of online surveys or even mystery shopping or something like that, but havent got a clue where to start?
any other ideas welcomed
thanks

hi there and welcome
Selling Avon is a good way to earn a bit extra. I do this and supplement my income by about £50 a month.
Or how about selling stuff on Amazon (I do this a lot) or ebay (I haven't done this yet but plan to in the near future).
£7000 is not a lot compared to a lot of people on here (see my sig below) so you should be able to get yourself out of the mire fairly quickly now you have started!!
Oh, and speaking as someone who did get talked into consolidating (twice!) ...don't!!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

pigginskint i did think about Avon but we have loads of reps in my area(one lives on my street) so thats no good really
and dont worry we wont be consolidating, it was a good rate but we will still be in debt for another extra year if we were to do that, where as we can be debt free by 2009 hopefully by doing it the wa we are doing now!!
zippy thanks for all the links, i will have a look thru them tomorrow when i get 5 minutes!!
have heard a lot about pigback and quidco already but will have a proper read up on them tomorrow!!
thanks again

Hi Adele, don't know if its your sort of thing but I do Ann Summers parties in my spare time on the evenings. Did one last night and made about fifty quid and then again tonight I made about 90. I'm a lot more in debt than you and this is helping to go on our basic living so imagine if you made that sort of money your 7000 would prob go down quite a bit quicker....Debt free 2018

would love to do that but i dont have much confidence due to not having any friends around here, lived here 2 years and dont really know anyone apart from my workmates who i only see on a thursday when i go to work(SAHM rest of time) so my confidence is a bit shattered
does it cost much to start up?0 -
Dolly,
If you are considering doing ANY direct sales (ie. Anne Summer, Virgin Cosmetics, Usborne Books etc) I would go onto the DSA (Direct Selling Association) website and have a look.
I have been doing direct sales for over 8 years and I love it HOWEVER there are a few things you need to consider
1) Like the product (ie. if you are at all shy, don't even consider doing Anne Summers or anything where you have to get in front of people and talk)
2) All direct sales companies will have a start up cost-you are buying a business where you are self employed-you will have to register as self employed with IR
3)You have to be self motivated and step out of your comfort zone and be able to ask people to have parties, demos etc. If you can't do that, you won't have a business
4)You cannot give up! It will work if you work hard at it and it can be VERY rewarding and LOTS of fun! You can meet lots of people and make friends
5)Take as much help and training as possible
Feel free to PM me if you want anymore help,

Hi,
If you are at home would it be possible to childmind for a few days a week?
If you are at all arts and crafts minded, you could always consider making cards/jewellry/ anything really and selling at local craft fairs/ carboots - the entry is usally only around £5 so you don't need to sell much to quickly get into profit with it.(and even in the worst case you don't sell, at least you've got birthday cards and prssies sorted out for the year!)
Another alternative might be to do a local college course in massage/nails etc (if you are not working you may be able to get this very discounted) and building up doing that.....
Good luck whatever direction you take - would be great to hear how you get on0 -

Hi Adele,
Since joining (January 2007) this thread I have successfully claimed £280 in bank charges (awaiting £1600 from another Bank), saved £42 in £2 coins and earned £300 with quidco. The ideas on here are really fabulous and most importantly - achievable.0 -
i dont think i am using quidco right, i have read people just getting money for clicks. I have only got money for purchases I have made and I have been looking through all the companies listed. Just got 65p for one survey so i must be doing something wrongMarch 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009
