Nectar Card - get your points on the day!

I spent over £300 in Debenhams last week on some new bedding and was not asked for my Nectar card. When I went in the next day they said they could only have added the points if I had come back in the same day!
They also state that they have a policy now of NOT asking if you have a Nectar card.
I'm absolutely livid!
Is this the correct position for Nectar and Debenhams? Has anyone else had this same problem?
Apologies if this repeats any previous postings, but I couldn't see any through the red mist

I've certainly noticed that they don't ask you any more if you have a nectar card.0

It really is up to you to give it to them.0

I was told that if you don't present the card there and then you don't get the points, even if you query it on the same day! Looks like debenhams want out of nectar.0
-
They stopped asking for the card about a year ago when they changed the policy.0

i had the same problem with debenhams (although not as much money)- noticed it just after it was rung through and he still would not add points.0

Its the not being able to add points in at a later date that is annoying. Tescos will quite happily give you points if you forget your clubcard when you present your receipt the following week.Happy girl!0

You could try to ring nectar and appeal to them,i have found them very helpful.0

Up to you to supply your card
They were one of the original firms that jointed up with nectar, but are not a major player now0 -

That is correct. Staff training swung from being badgered to make sure they asked for Nectar cards to now being told not to do so.0 -
I guess the other thing - although it would be a massive pain - is to take the stuff back you bought, get a refund and then buy it again. Alot of hassle though!0
