BT Home Hub Problem

My daughter has phoned Dad's help desk to ask about a problem she is having with her BT Home Hub.
When it powers up all the lights flash once only then remain off. Apparently this also happened last week and her flatmate was advised by BT to reinstall the software (my daughter was not there). This seemed to sort out the problem at the time but it has now happened again and reinstalling does NOT fix it.
[STRIKE]Neither the Broadband nor the phone work.[/STRIKE] The phone is working but the BB is not.
I'm off to browse round google to see what I can find but I will check back later and if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I have Bt Homehub and don't have or do not intend to have any Bt software on my system..you don't need it. unless you are connected to it by usb ..
BTW which model hub do you have??

I agree , I run the home hub here without any of the bundled software,do configuration via wireless connection
to make sure that it has the latest firmware on the hub go here
