Do you have a local 'good as new' designer or wedding type place? They don't get much cash on ebay I'm afraid... some as low as £20, which I'm sure is less than you were hoping for.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
It's a slow time of year for selling them on eBay - might be better to try in a couple of months. Some wedding dresses can make good money, but if it's a common size and a few years old, it probably won't make a lot of money now. If it's a very popular style and/ or an unusual size, it could still sell for a fair bit. If you do decide to use ebay, you might want to wait for a cheap listing day so you don't risk being left with high listing fees for an unsold item with a biggish start price.
If you have photos of the dress being worn, I'd use them either instead of or as well as photos of the dress by itself. It helps to let the buyer see how it looks on, rather than just hanging. You can blank out the face if you like -lots of people do when using wedding photos to sell clothes on ebay.
You could try advertising locally, e.g. on supermarket boards or in the paper. If you're willing to invite buyers to your home to try it on, it's more likely to sell for a price you're happy with. For supermarket ads, if you can print out a card with a picture of the dress on it (don't forget to include required details like the date you put the card up) your ad will stand out from all the handwritten, unillustrated ones.
I bought my own wedding dress from an ad in the local paper years ago, and I paid £45 for it (veil included). I've seen posher ones advertised at considerably higher prices.0 -
I suppose it depends how much you want for it and if you just want it out of the way.
I bought my Monsoon wedding dress on ebay, wore it and then sold it on ebay for the price I paid!0 -
Thanks all!
I got married in september gone - apparently the stlye dress is still being made and sold. Would ideally like at least $250 they retail at $600 I would also throw in veil & tiara plus its in proffessional storage box. So will try supermarkets/shops and local dress agencies.
Anyother suggestions appreciated

Take a look at this eBay auction. THIS is how to sell a wedding dress! This auction got about half a million hits because everyone thought it was so funny that they emailed their friends.
