selling my wedding dress

Options
Hi

Following the amazing success of my first ebay sale I thought, well I've been seperated for 7 years I could get rid of my wedding dress which is 10 years old but not that dated.

Has anyone sold a wedding dress on ebay with any success? I will obviously wait a couple of months, Easter is the start of the silly season and with Valentines coming up there will be an increase in the brides to be I'm sure.

I will have to get the dress cleaned and so I don't want to pay for this if I'm only going to get £20 for it.

Thanks for your help

I take it you will start the bidding fairly low, rather than put a Buy It Now on it? This is a good thing - it means you will deter any lurking Nigerian scammers.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

That is a very good point, do you think I should market it as a pettit item as I am 5'3" and although I wore heels and it was slightly too long it it might not be great for much taller people.

I wasn't sure if this would encourage buyers, on reflection it probaly

what I meant was would you be comfortable with strangers coming into your home, if they say they would like to see/try the dress on....think of the safety aspect for yourself too.

Get measuring! Give every measurement you can, that way you'll hopefully get fewer timewasters.

Why not get it cleaned AFTER it has sold.
You could state in the auction that delivery will take a ew extra days due to cleaning.

Personally I don't put in a starting price of less than I am willing to let an item go for.

    Hi

don't want to put a bad light on ebay, but wedding dresses don't make a lot of money. I haven't sold one, but have bought 2 in the last week or so. They were brand new with tags (both designer labels) and I paid £10.50 for one and £36.15 for the other (plus postage of course). They are both stunning dresses which clearly costs hundreds.

The £10.50 dress had appalling photos and I took a chance on the description - but the dress arrived and is stunning. Bargain!

Just to show you the links are here and here

I think what I am trying to say is be prepared to be disappointed....and definitely put a reserve if you don't want it to go for silly money - which is what I believe I paid for two stunning dresses

NB: no I'm not getting married nor do I have a wedding dress fetish LOL - I bought them for a modelling session for a photoshoot and will probably ebay them again afterwards.

having a dress cleaned can cost £70 and more.....

wedding dresses only sell for high amounts on Ebay if they are designer, Maggie Sottero ones do ok...and current styles....

I also have a wedding dress to sell. (and shoes) It looks like ebay isn't an option. Any other ideas for selling it?
