I was looking at that one on Dell site and to tell the truth I can't make head nor tail of the special offer.
I use for web browsing, general work & would like to store photos. Also burn the odd cd. Never use it for games.
Which of these two would you say is best and might I find something to equal in Tesco.
Many Thanks.0 -
If you knock the warranty of the Dell down to 1 year collect and return, it knocks £70 off the price.

make sure you get a free vista upgrade voucher with whatever you get, or wait a couple of weeks for vista to be released.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

The Dell one looks good, and I agree about the warranty. For a home computer, you don't need a full on-site warranty. Although some of the upgrade costs are quite expensive. £17 for a floppy disk drive, for example. If you need a floppy drive, and know anyone that knows anything about computers, then you can pick up a floppy disk drive for £4 delivered, and get them to install it. It's probably the easiest thing to add to a PC. Personally, I'd lose the warranty, and use the money to double the RAM, and upgrade to an Athlon processor, but if you decide to go for the Dell, I'm sure everyone will be happy to help you pick how you want it.
But I also wouldn't rule out a laptop, if you'd enjoy the flexibility of being able to use it around the house, rather than just in one fixed place. You can get a laptop that will do everything you want to do easily enough at this price point. They're harder and more expensive to upgrade if you ever need to, but at £400, you can't expect a laptop or a desktop to last forever anyway, without becoming more expensive to upgrade than it would be to buy a new one.0 -
Without a doubt Aria's computer shopper 2007 Feb review I have not seen beaten ANYWHERE!

Hi Guys, Thanks for all your help.
I keep going back to the Dell C521 £399.
Downgrade to 1year uplift & return brings the price down to £329, this includes upgrades to windows media centre, memory to 512MB from 256MB, hard drive to 160GB from 80GB, 18 months security & £70 discount.
No floppy drive, no modem. not sure I need these.
No free upgrade to Vista, should I pay the extra for this.
Do I need speakers or does the sound come from the monitor.
I would like an all in one printer, scaner, copier, should I buy the one from Dell.
Optical drive is, 48xCD-RW DVD COMBO DRIVE. Is this suieable to burn the odd CD.
Still trying to get my head round the processor, AMD SEMPRON 3400+
Do you think it will be very slow. Which one should I upgrade to that is if you think I should. I am the only person who uses this computer mostly for web browsing.
Yes a lot of questions, however I think I am almost there.
Would appreciate your thoughts.
Many Thanks.0
