If you have to buy one film in 2007 then it must be an Inconvenient Truth, infact it should be issued to every teacher and lecturer throughout the UK as standard and filtered down to the kids and pupils!!
Its an eye opener and certainly makes you think about the planet, recycling and climate care.
The most inexpensive copy I could find on the web is for £9.99 while stocks last so be quick not to miss out...

I loved this film and was really impressed that every magazine and newspaper I picked up at the time it was released gave it a five-star must-see rating, that surprised me because I thought it'd probably be written off as a film for environmentalists (which I'm not). It isn't though, everyone should see it.
Actually yell25, I read that your suggestion has actually been taken up in the US, I think they gave 100,000 copies to teachers and lecturers for free.0 -
yup third vote for this, i bought it with christmas voucher in HMV for an extortionate £17, but brilliant film/docu0

I really want to see this too - I just checked the Blockbusters website and they have it for hire, so that's what I will be doing (being a frugal greenie!).0

Perhaps the film should be promoted heavily in India and China first.
Or Bush should go for ‘regime change’ in those two countries.0 -
I’m 54 years old with no children.
The idea of a significantly warmer climate in Surrey during my old age quite appeals to me.
Roll on Global Warming.:D0 -
Well how about this for an alternative view.

I particularly like this quote:First, nonscientists generally do not want to bother with understanding the science. Claims of consensus relieve policy types, environmental advocates and politicians of any need to do so. Such claims also serve to intimidate the public and even scientists--especially those outside the area of climate dynamics. ---- Lastly, there is a clear attempt to establish truth not by scientific methods but by perpetual repetition.
It sums nearly all of us up perfectly - we simply don't know if we are wasting our time or not.0 -

There is a overwhelming consensus within the scientific community that global warming is real, and surely it is better to be safe than sorry.
There are other reasons to cut back on using the earths resources besides the damage being done to the atmosphere - and that is the damage being done to the planet especially the oceans. Even if the climate remained stable - we are still poisoning ourselves to death.Avoriaz wrote:I’m 54 years old with no children.

I suspect your comment was tongue in cheek Avoriaz, if not - have you never considered ethics and social responsibility.Work Less - Spend Less - Consume Less.

I am no saint but I am reasonably responsible in my behaviour. I don’t have my own children but my friends and relatives have plenty that I am very fond of and I don’t want to see the world ruined for them or anyone else.
I am however a bit sceptical about global warming, mainly because the so called experts can’t agree. I will however look out for that film on Sky and watch it sometime. Al Gore would have made a far better president that Bush.
Actually my stupid cat would have made a far better president than Bush.:mad:0
