Hello, my beloved LT has just had its 2nd birthday. I love my little laptop, trouble is, I splash it when I'm eating (gross, I know!!) and leave finger prints on the screen when I've pointed something of interest out to my OH
I asked in PC world if they had some wipes or something. The young man said to use a dry cloth (yeah right.... I TRIED that already...) or maybe a bit of spit on a tissue.... which I did try, and now the screen is even cruddier
Seems a bit drastic to trade my LT in coz of a dirty screen... any ideas?
Thanks a lot

AF [Automation Facilities] produce good computer cleaning products which are widely available.
The link below will take you to AF’s website. Scroll down to the third product. “Laptop-Clene”. Expect to pay £2.50/£3.50.

A quick “Google” produced the following result:

If you like gadgets and don’t mind paying around £8, consider the Hama Laptop Screen Cleaner.
A quick “Google” produced the following result:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005V37P/wwwdealticouk-ce-21/026-6745895-4609252?dev-t=D2GPY4FLPNIDH9%26camp=2025%26link_code=xm2
Both these products will safely restore your Laptop screen to it's former glory.
*Note*
Do not buy standard screen wipes or sprays. They are designed for glass screen monitors and if used will in time damage “soft” laptop screens.Do It To Them Before They Do It To You

Hi, Get yourself a 'Microfibre' cleaning cloth - in supermarkets in the cleaning section. Use warm WATER and wring it out well - add nothing else. You will have a sparkly clean screen. It's reusable and needs no costly chemicals. If your screen has dried-on crispy bits (!) - wet them lightly first to remove and don't scrub them around!
I use one to clean the keyboard (switched off!) and the whole computer casing. In fact they're fantastic for cleaning anything - tv screens, windows, mirrors....! Can be used dry to do the dusting too, if you feel so inclined.
Important - Never use bleach or fabric conditioner, and never tumble-dry them.
Very environmental and it works. Been using one for years - lovely clean screen all the time! Can't stand the kids sticky fingerprints all over my work!Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

Same as amd, I use a microfibre cloth. Just rinse and wring out or spray with plain water and away you go. You dont need to use any pressure, just go over a few times gently and your screen will be clean and smear free in moments0

Microfibre only needs to be slightly damp. I use a spray bottle of water to give it a fine misting(not the screen). You can just run the cloth under the tap and really wring it out if you dont have a spray bottle.
I also use microfibre to clean the laminate - once again just spraying the cloth with clean water, not the floor - lifts everything a mucky pup and builders boots throw at it0 -
I have some microfibre dust cloths (any supermarket). They are fantastic as they trap dust and are a bit rough but not abrasive, so clean off hard bits as well.
I use them for furniture, glass, metal, spectacles and laptop screen. A vigorous wipe and it's done. Even better if it's slightly damp.
I cut the cloths in four and they last me for ages. Can be washed well too.
So no wasting money on fancy cleaners which don't do the job any better.
:cool:Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Excellent Advice!
On my Desktop TFT I have left the piece of plastic that covered the screen when I purchased it on it. Held in place with masking tape0
