Discounted newspapers for students

Options
Did you know that some major newspapers have very good discount voucher schemes for students?

The Guardian's vouchers mean you can buy the Guardian for 20p instead of 60p on a weekday, or the Observer for 60p (instead of £1.50).
www.guardian.co.uk/studentvouchers
Or if you don't want to register just go to http://www.guardian.co.uk/studentvouchers/pickup to get the PDF vouchers to print.

The Times vouchers mean you can buy the weekday Times for 20p
https://www.timesonline.co.uk/student (click "Get The Times for 20p" banner, top right)

The Telegraph vouchers apparently allow students to buy the paper for 30p.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/index.jhtml (right at the bottom of the right column is a link for "Discounted papers").

If you know about any other newspapers (or I suppose magazines as well) offering discounts/discount vouchers for students, add them to this thread.

on campus our student shop sells the above papers for 20p anyway....

...but the vouchers are good for getting food slightly cheaper at the supermarket ;)

many of the periodicals/journals (new scientist and the economist i believe) also offer student discounts, though i believe im right in saying you have to take out a subscription?

Yeah i think so...I can't remember the exact link, but the people that do it are always all over fresher's fayres.

If your SU shop is supplied by NUSSL (the NUS buying people, who buy in bulk and then supply the individual shops), you should be able to get the economist for £2.00 instead of the cover price.
  • Here's a link directly to the form you need to fill in to claim your money off vouchers.

Nice one. I can buy papers for 20-30p at our student shop during the week but it's shut at weekends so I have to pay the full price at the newsagent! I've e-mailed Guardian for vouchers.

An even better way to save money on buying newspapers is to read them online.
