Hi,
Have had this problem before but on a different website. Each time I am on MSE I keep getting the Internet Explorer Script error box coming up and wondered if anyone else was having the same or how to get rid of it. It happens each time I go to a new page, so each time I go to a post or thread etc - its getting pretty annoying!

How to Disable Script Debugging messages in Internet Explorer
- Load Internet Explorer
- Click Tools -> Internet Options
- Go to the Advanced Tab
- Under the Browsing heading, make sure there is a check-mark beside "Disable Script Debugging"

If there is a yellow triangle in bottom left corner of the IE7 window, double-click it and post the exact error message.
What anti-virus software are you running?0 -
i get that as well [IMG][/img]dont drink and drive:beer: :beer:

There is no yellow triangle in the windows at all. What does pop up each time I go to a new page is a box and in it there is:
Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 2350
Char: 1
Error: Object Expanded
Code: 0
It also asks if I want to continue running scripts on this page
Edit: to say that the line number varies according to what page you are on - its different every time!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Give the URL (web site address) of a page it occurs on, along with the actual error for that page, then I can look at the code and see what might be causing the error.
Tools - Internet Options - Advanced tab - and make sure 'Display a notification about every script error' is not ticked.
Also try: Tools - Internet Options - General tab - Delete in Browsing history - Delete Files and Delete Cookies. Restart IE.
What anti-virus and anti-spyware etc. software are you running? That could be causing the problem. In fact scan for spyware.0 -
Hi,
Thanks will try those now.
The virus things we have are AVG Free and also SpybotWeight Loss - 102lb0 -
On the chat forums index page for MSE it gives the following error message/codes:
An error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 2350
Char: 1
Error: Object Expanded
Code: 0Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
The error is caused by incorrect coding on the web page. Line 2350 on http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/ is the call to urchinTracker (used for Google Analytics):
<script type="text/javascript"> _uacct = "UA-799210-1"; _udn="moneysavingexpert.com"; urchinTracker(); </script>
However, there is nothing in the web page which defines this function and therefore the 'Object expected' error occurs.
You should find that the error doesn't occur on http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping for example. That's because it includes urchin.js which defines the urchinTracker function:<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> _uacct = "UA-799210-1"; _udn="moneysavingexpert.com"; urchinTracker(); </script>
Apart from making sure that 'Display a notification about every script error' is not ticked, there is nothing you can do. We'll have to wait until the MSE web designer fixes the code.0
