1st post so please bear with me. After having been ripped off by LTSB bank charges I have decided to reclaim them. I notice step 1 is to open a new bank account. Heres where I need your help. I need good efficient online banking and a bank with an easy switching process should I need to do this if LTSB decide to close my accounts. I am not too bothered about interest rates as I am always overdrawn (£1000 overdraft my account and £600 on joint account with hubby). Also if anyone has any experience with LTSB trying to close their accounts/loans following instigation of reclaiming bank charges I would be interested in hearing from you. Many Thanks!

I bank with HSBC and smile. I'm not a fan of HSBC, but there online banking is great, so easy to use. When I switched to smile, it was very painless and they have the best internet banking I've ever used - only problem is "recent transactions" as it doesn't give you a run by run of the balance, just transactions in and out and the balance changes daily at the top. Bit annoying, but apart from that, the best internet banking I've ever used.0

I use HSBC and Nationwide. Both are very easy to use, Nationwide has a quick transfer facility which is quick and easy to use.
Good luck0 -
Posted in duplicate thread on this topic - thought I best put it in here along with the other replies
I use HSBC, LTSB and Natwest - I personally like natwest for everyday online banking as transactions appear as quickly as you can get back from the shops/cashpoint and you get to name all of your accounts (so mine all have handy names such as 'Rent', 'Car' etc.) HSBC also have pretty good online banking as mentioned by others.0 -
Have to agree with all of the replies, I use HSBC, Natwest and RBS online banking and they're all very good and easy to use.0

Thanks for replies you all mention HSBC but what about the security problems they have had?0

Formidablelady - you would not need to change banks or reclaim charges if you took more care with your spending!
Quote'' I am not too bothered about interest rates as I am always overdrawn (£1000 overdraft my account and £600 on joint account with hubby) this is really non MSE isn't it??
This needs to be addressed first in my opinion.0 -
HSBC online system is supposedly the most secure around.
Yet smile have won security and "easy to use" awards for their online banking for 5+ years running now. If I had to pick for smile or HSBC I'd pick smile. They have the BEST secure messaging system EVER. You send a message and can see your sent message, see all replies to the message etc and get a response within 40 hours max. It's like sending an email. Unlinke HSBC and FD where the secure message system is really clunky and you can't save any messages etc0 -
I don't think HSBC are any more at risk from security threats than anyone else, they have always seemed very responsible about these things and as long as you don't give away your password or follow emails claiming to be from them you should be OK. As with the other online providers you only ever input part of your security code so it is very secure in my non-techie eyes.0

Thank you SparciaM I was really interested in what you said about smile winning awards as customer care and efficiency are top priority for me. I don't like to be let down. ejones999 better to crash and burn than fade away but I appreciate the irony.0
