Free fruit & veg for mums....

Pregnant women and toddlers from low income families are to receive free fruit and veg from next week.

Parents on low incomes will be eligible for the vouchers worth £2.80 a week for pregnant women and families with children between one and four years old.
Those with children under a year old will get 2 vouchers a week.

    I got a leafelet about this the other day, i've just made a claim for IS due to taking aston out of nursery, so i'll get these, it's a good idea, i'll use mine for fruit as he eats at least 5 pieces a day.

    *greengrocers

    *supermarkets

    i rang the ctc people and they said id automatically get these... rang the milk people and they said id have to apply.. im confused! my hubby came off WTC about 4 weeks ago so we have been eligable since then. Last time we were eligable and they were late sending out our tokens we recived a backdated cheque. would this happen in this case?

    is low income working tax and child tax credit or is it just for income support

    If you get a higher rate child tax credit, then you can get them

    Its for pregnant women and children under the age of 5, dad's will only get it if they are a lone parent with a child under the age of 5.
    If a couple are on benefits and have one child, they will get one token, if the woman is pregnant, they get 2.

    Seems that if your income of £14,155 or less is made up of benefits then you get the vouchers.

    However, if you go out and earn £14,155 or less, (and so also have to pay out extra money for transport to work, clothes, childcare, etc) then you're not entitled to the vouchers......
