ABSSUK Ltd are scammers

Options
Hi Everyone,

I joined abssuk home mailing program and paid a fee of £49.99 (apparently refundable once I send my first batch of 100 envelopes). Initially I did have my suspicions but thought it wouldn't hurt to try and I could always make £49.99.

On their site they make it out so that people would get the impression that all they have to do is stuff envelopes with other company ads. Unfortunately this is not the case, it seems all along they are just advertising themselves. They send you leaflets so you can advertise them (with your own money) and generate more members for them who like me fall victim to their conniving ways and end up paying £49.99 to their benefit.

Why am I writing this? Because I am !!!!ed and aside from that I just want people to know that NEVER EVER EVER EVER join a home mailing program especially abssuk.

There is so much I have learnt about this company which I dont have time to list here just yet, I will publish it on a different post (I might even be tempted to scan their cheap manual).

  • Unfortunately this is one of the most commonest scams around. Many people such as yourself have been taken in by this as they make it sound so easy and profitable. Something really has to be done to stop this, I'm sorry you were caught out by this :)

A good clue is their appalling English (Model's wanted)! The instrusive apostrophe says it all.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

In a few words Daniel (or no doubt Alan Bradley) Up ya hoop!
This site is ran by and used by some very shrewd and honest people. It makes me laugh that a blatent scam has been uncovered by a decent girl and then there are loads of posts backing her up then "MR 1 post wonder "pops up saying how great it is. I reckon your related to another 1 post wonder Pinkfish. Check ou his 1 and only post telling us how he won £10000 and Vitamail is great. Go on then prove all these posters wrong, give Yas her £50 back coz you make so much from it or PM her and show her proof it aint a scam and how its done.
I wonder if a mod or helper could remove the links to ABSSUK. Why should they get help to scam on an honest site.
  • There is some good advice on how to avoid these scams here:
    http://www.oft.gov.uk/Consumer/Scams/Home.htm

How it works - some common examples

Addressing or stuffing envelopes: this scam involves you paying a registration fee to join in return for simple advice on how to place similar advertisements to attract other people into the scam

How do I know it is a scam?

    * they will ask for money up front
    * they promise large sums of money for performing simple tasks
    * they use a post office box address or a mobile phone number so you never meet them and cannot find them once you realise it is a scam
    * the advertisements will not state clearly what is involved.

    How to protect yourself:

    * don't pay any money up front - geniune employers will not ask you to pay money before you start working
    * stop, think and be sceptical. Ask yourself these simple questions: does it sound too good to be true? Is there actually an offer of work or just an offer to tell you more about finding work? Does it claim to be a big money opportunity? Does the work sound too easy?
    * be wary of offers to buy back the goods you have made, as the conditions attached may be impossible to fulfill
    * find out more about the company you want to work for - if it is legitimate it should be happy to provide you with information for free
    * if you are looking for work to do at home, think about approaching local companies.
    * ask for advice - call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06

For more details on genuine homeworking contact the National Group on Homeworking (0800 174 095) for free advice and information.

OP maybe you can contact on of those TV reporters who hunt down people like this and name and shame them - where is Roger Cook when you need him!?

  • Maybe you should also post about this scam on scam.com - they rank quite well in search engines for scam + the keyword, so a post titled "ABSSUK scam warning avoid at all costs" would be good way to make sure other innocent people don't get scammed by this too.......
