is this a scam?

in my local paper they were advertising for envelope packers. as a stay at home mum with 2 very young children and no regular babysitters i thought this would be a good idea to make a bit of extra cash to stop my other half nagging at me lol

after sending for the info it says you have to send £15 to set up which you get back after 100 enveloped. this is to guarantee you continue working with them apparently. do you think this is a scam?

its a company in tenbury wells called SHB marketing

thanks in advance

  • Hi, a similar ad used to run in my local paper too. There is now an ad by the paper itself saying never pay upfront for home-working schemes.

Here's another thread relating to your question:

Why on earth should you pay them to send you work they want you to do?

    Of course it's a scam.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

As Watchdog and other programmes have pointed out, all reputable companies now use machines to stuff envelopes. Gone are the days when humans were used for this job. All these so called home-working schemes are just a con.
