  • Hi
What size hard drive do you want? Do you want that records as well, or has a radio, How much do you want to pay for one?
As for the best who knows, Creative, Iriver, Sony all good makes and different prices/sizes, or do you want a cheap and cheerful one like this one for £27

I'm confused by the hard disk capacities - anything from 1 to 80. I'm guessing the larger sizes are for movies fans only?

What size disk would seem about right for an ordinary middle-aged couple who want to record their modest collection of CDs and a thousand or two photographs?

    Thanks
  • Are you after a flash player or one with a disk like the ipod.

The disk type use more battery power as they have moving parts whereas a flash play stores the media on a chip and has few parts.

I have a 512mb flash type player and have 6 or 7 albums stored on it at a good quality - I would get more if I reduced the quality.

Have a look here at wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_player

Thanks, RS, I didn't even know there were two types to choose from!
I'm guessing a largish flash card one would meet my needs but would be interested to hear what other people think.

    Hello

I currently have a 20GB ipod and have around 3000 tunes on it and also use it as a hard drive so have some work files and photos on it and it is still not full. I don't like ipods though, I have had to reset it three times in the two years I have had it and I find Itunes very slow and annoying to use.

I bought my boyfriend an Archos Gmini which is much better. Tunes can just be dragged and dropped onto the device and updating with new software is easy. He has never had any problems with it. This is also 20GB or 30GB (not sure) but he watches videos on it.

I tired to see if I could get the Archos cheaper in the US but it was just the same price.

Although just to be pedantic a moment, the FM transmitter would be illegal to use, until about December this year.
