So you might as well put all your peak geographical calls through 18185, to get cheaper all round calls, unless they put their connection charge up to 5p.0
-
I've not had the e-mail yet but that certainly is bad news.
I think I'll be switching to 18185 for everything too because, apart from being cheapest for 0845/0870 calls, they're also cheapest for our calls to Spain too (well, of the prefix-dial providers anyway).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Plus 18185 have excellent UK mobile rates.0
-
from the 23th of october calls via 1899 are subjected to a 4p connection fee0
-
Just remember it's still cheaper than BT .0
-
Should watch them carefully. If I remember correctly, 18866 (same parent company I think ) upped their's from 3p to 4p, then very shortly after that hiked it up to 5p.0
-
I've been expecting this for a while as all they are losing money on their current pricing arrangements.
I suspect Call18185 will follow suite but obviously hope they don't.0 -
Had the e-mail too - Sad news!
On the bright side they are still (I believe) the cheapest at 4p per call to UK land lines. As I've an orchid dialler, with 18185 programmed for mobiles, there's no point in me switching yet, and if they were losing money at the 3p rate they deserve a bit of loyalty as they have saved me a small fortune over the last couple of years!0 -

They are both different brands of the same mother company,so they win either way.:D0 -
If you use 1899, 0808 freephone access number from your Cable Line, the connection charge goes up from 3p to 4p from the 23/10/2006.You might therefore want to consider using sister company 18185 if you dont already do so,as their charges to call geographical numbers will be the same eg 4p connection 1p a minute. But your get the benefit of cheaper mobile calls (weekends), cheaper non geographical calls, and in some cases cheaper intl calls.
