Well boy, am I glad Curry Queen wasn't in my kitchen just now - I just managed to massacre her curry base recipe
Not only did I halve the quantities and NOT half the water I also then managed to omit the tomatoes!
Shocking! I think I need lessons from MrBadExample LOL
Anyone else had any recipe disasters?

I once made a batch of curry queens curry sauce, and added a pot of cumin, instead of ginger!!!! It turned green and the house stank for days. I had to throw it away and start again!!!!0

You could always save it by adding a container of tomato puree to replace the tomatoes. Thn simmer for a longer time until it reduces. It shouldn't be able to overcook.
I have learned that a failed souffle makes an attractive beret.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
Can someone please put in a link to Curry Queens basic curry sauce recipe, I've done a search with no luck and looked in the mega index too. Apart from these mistakes people have made which I will probably end up doing myself, is the recipe quite easy ?Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

sorry me again, just thought of another question, when the basic sauce is made up can the rest of the curry be cooked in a slow cooker ?It would be a veggie one as I'm a vegetarian, but I've just bought a sc and want to use it as much as poss.
thanks again.

The one good thing about mistakes like that is you do not make the same mistake again.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

And yes, you could then go on to make your curries in your slow cooker if you wishHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Ooh disasters,I've had a few,the 2 that spring to mind are I once made a quiche but forgot the EGGS  obviously didn't set,but tasted OK.The second was a spaghetti which I put in what I thought was tomato puree but was actually harissa (spel?) chilli puree,it was sooooo hot nobody could eat it.It wouldn't have been too bad,but this was when I had 9 people around for dinner,we just ate dessert!:oDebt at highest £102k

Well, there was the famous Concrete Pudding (doubles the amount of rice but not the amount of milk
).
Or the time I spent ages making lovely HM pizza and then had to throw it all away because it had become welded to the tin foil I'd lined the tray with. There were tears that time *sniff*
Or the time when we tried to cook Christmas lunch at my Dad's, not realising that his oven only has two temperature settings - 'off' and 'tepid'. Can't actually remember what happened that time (probably drunk myself into oblivion on the sherry triffle:rolleyes: )
Now there's an idea for a thread "Christmas Culinary Disasters - What Happened and How Did You Cope?"
