when the basic sauce is made up can the rest of the curry be cooked in a slow cooker ?

Once the base sauce is made up the actual curry itself takes very little time - about 10 - 15 mins max. even meat ones.

Its the base that takes the time - you could experiment with that in the sc - I havent one and havent tried it out. Maybe other have

but do have a go it really is a fantastic recipe

By the time I realised what I had done I was so fed up it all went down the sink - I couldnt bear the sight of it any longer! I know, so not OS but honestly, I was a woman on the edge! :D

I have been on that same edge! And looked into the Abyss!

Not mine but one I remember all too well!

I remember a flatmate of mine who claimed she was Vegan but actually revealed that she didn't like food or eating that much   . After watching her cook I could completely understand where she was coming from. Her idea of Spag Bol was to bring to boil a tin of tomatoes and throw in a handful of soya mince_pale_ . Stir for a minute and serve. Her famous culinary disaster was the first meal she made for a vegetarian friend and I. Vegan Quiche. Apparently you could make this with soya milk and set it with yeast. But not the packet of Easy Blend dried yeast that she used, as it turned out. It was served as pastry and unset milk_pale_ . I was polite and ate it and took the dishes out to the kitchen to wash up. At that point she and the vege friend looked each other and ran for the loo. Thank heavens we had 2! They were in there for a good hour or so.

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

Made some Christmas cakes last night - with lots of expensive ingredients.

BUt I burnt the tops! Rest of the cake looks okay..

Any experts on here who can tell me how to recover them??

  • cut the top off! If you're going to ice them anyway, who will notice?

Before or after I pour all the booze in?

I usually water them with spirit couple of times a week.. If the top isn't "crusty" will it not soak it up too quickly?

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

They'll be fine :) Get a sharp knife to cut the tops off cleanly and then tunr tham over. If you're going to ice them it's easier to ice the bottom as it's much smoother ;)

Definitely cut the tops off before adding the booze -or you'll be wasting the alcohol!

I've merged the two recipe disasters threads to keep all the answers together. If you all are as prone to disasters as I am, I suspect it will be a very popular thread!:D
