Free lactofree milk

If you sign up for their quarterly e-newsletter they say they'll send you a coupon to try lactofree milk for free! It's milk with no (alright very very little!) lactose in (in case anyone doesn't know) so it's good for those who are loactose intollerant!

..and I REALLY hope those of you who are lucky enough to not be lactose intolerant/allergic to milk won't abuse this one..

    Complicated sentence.. but I'm tired.

    Thanks :)

My husband has a milk intolerance and I warn you, even though this product has the lactose removed, it doesn't reduce the symptons of milk intolerance/ allergy as most people still react to other fats in milk. We tried it and my husband had a sniffy nose and headaches for days!

Thanks for the warning! But I'm not sure about the "most people" part. A lot of people who are intolerant to milk are lactose-intolerant. And if you're lactose-intolerant this milk should be ok, as long as you don't drink liters and liters. Lacto-free does contain a tiny bit lactose, but lactose intolerance is never life-threatening.

Lactose is a sugar, not fat, and I haven't heard of a lot of people reacting to the fats in the milk?

The proteins in milk cause allergic reactions in a lot of people who are allergic to milk though. They may be allergic to proteins in either the casein or the whey parts of milk or to both. Milk allergy can be life-threatening, so you are ALLERGIC to milk, DO NOT drink lacto-free! Just go for soy milk instead.

Lacto-free is, as the name suggests, NOT for people who are ALLERGIC to milk, but for people who are LACTOSE-intolerant :)

Crikey, I should have expected this to create a hoo har but I really didn't! I've altered my first post to correct that 'no lactose' bit, you're right dinsi it does contain some lactose just not a lot. I also altered it to say that it is good for people who are lactose intollerant rather than allergies, just so all the facts are straight!

It's all so complicated, but hey it's free milk for those who have to buy the expensive stuff :-)

  • Milk used to make me feel full of phlemgh (spelling?) and give me an upset stomach within a few minutes of eating breakfast. I've been using this milk for cereal, porridge and in coffee for the past few weeks and feel much better for it so perhaps it will help you if mildly intolerant of lactose...only trouble is finding supermarkets that sell it (2 out of 7 near me do!).
    I will be rich :rotfl:

    I didn't see an opt-in or opt-out box on the sign-up page.Anyone else? I just hate spam.
  • On an extra note to this, those people who give their dogs normal milk to drink, should instead be giving them something like this as dogs are lactose-intolerant too.

Not that I'm saying you should order some for your dog, but if you will insist on giving him milk, maybe you should try this sample and see if it has the same effect as the normal milk you give him/her, then make the switch to lactose free?
  • My boyfriend although has not been diagnosed as intolerant has been drinking this milk for the last few months because he was starting to suffer with bloating etc. This milk has certainly done the trick for him,!!:j

Thanks Fritha, been meaning to try this for a while! Excellent!! :)

This won't be suitable for all LI sufferers as some are VERY sensitive to even trace amounts. Products like this and Lactolite (pretty easily available UHT equivalent), do unfortunately still contain enough lactose to trigger symptoms for the very sensitive.

Recommend an excellent site for any suffers out there https://www.foodreactions.org (formally https://www.lactose.co.uk). Very good forums too. Run by the very qualified Mario.

    Thanks again!
