If so, I hope you can help.
My wife is currently going through the application process for a job as a Customer Consultant.
Can you offer any advice on whatworking for Nationwide is like? Do they offer special rates or incentives for staff?
Also, do you know what the salary range is?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

No offense meant, but wouldn't the best way to know the salary for the job she's applying for be to ask the people she's applying to i.e. Nationwide!?
All i can add is that the staff in our local NW seem much happier and more helpful than any other high street financial place i go to - could just be our branch though...Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery0 -

thanks for your reply.
No offence caused, but it would sound a bit daft now asking them, seeing as she's three weeks in to the application process. I know this is a question she should have asked at the start of the process, but she's so desperate to leave her current job, anything would be better than where she is now. The pay is bound to be more, but I just wondered how much more.
Your second paragraph is interesting, we have found exactly the same thing in our local branch, and this is what prompted her to apply for the job.0 -
Perhaps it is because they have no share-holders to respond to ,just looking after the consumer and offering a service to create profitTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0

Nationwide offers an average salary pension scheme.
This is quite a perk at a time when all other banks & building societies seem to have closed down final salary pension schemes and moved new employees over to money purchase schemes (where you take all the investment risk if stock markets or annuity rates fall).0 -

But if you leave it, with each day that passes it becomes more daft to ask! Imagine starting the job still not knowing, but wanting to ask "so how much will you actually be paying me?!" Just a thought.Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Think she has to phone up personel and ask the question now.0

Have they offered her the job?
Normally where I have had interviews within the Financial Services sector they will tell you the benefits package on the last interview of the interview process.
If they havent and the have offered her the role then I would just get your wife to ask the question along the lines of that she has forgotton the exact details and wants to write it down if they could reconfirm.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. HI Burnley Lad
I live near Burnley and have a good relationship with most of the Staff at Nationwide in Burnley - I think they have just changed branch manager though - I can't tell you what its like to work in there as I'm whole of market so don't, but the staff I know are all really happy in their jobs and they don't have a high staff turnover, so I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be happyI am a Mortgage Adviser

Yes, shareholder dividends are a consideration but IMHO one of the problems currently besetting the corporate world is that of the 'fat cat' board of directors- and, guess what?, the Nationwide has a board, even if they don't have shareholders. The problem is not confined to PLCs.
In whose interest was this recently-announced merger with the Portman? What kind of consultation with its members did the board of Nationwide decide upon before proceeding? Who is responsible for deciding on remuneration packages for executives and directors within the Nationwide? Where would you imagine that 'profit' ends up?
I for one shall NOT be putting up any prizes for those who guess the answers correctly!
I realise this is going way off topic but I couldn't resist taking a swipe where a swipe is well overdue.0
