Need London Hotel break 8/9 December

Hi

I'm trying to find a hotel for two nights in December, fairly central & preferably with a pool as I'm off doing some training while husband & baby are free to roam London! Prices seem to be exorbitant - I'd like to pay less than £150 for both nights. Have tried looking at theatre breaks, etc. in case I can bag a bargain but does anyone have any recommendations, special offers or other ideas?

Many thanks

Emmavix

  • Is the £150 per night or is that the total budget for the 2 nights?
  • If you look on the Holiday Inn site, the Holiday Inn in Kings Cross/Bloomsbury is available for the 8th and 9th for £79 - this is a non flexible rate (and doesnt include breakfast). Use of the leisure facilities = £2.50 per day for guests according to website.

Not my favourite location in London, but easy stroll to British Museum through Bloomsbury, and loads of buses into central london (or a short cab drive for when your husband gets fed up of walking).
  • pls excuse the laziness of putting links to other threads - the ironing just won't get down otherwise

It might be worth considering one of the many hostels - they're meant to be quite nice these days and some have family rooms:

sorry -just seen bit about the pool - think that hostel will be no good!
  • Also try the St Giles - this is slap bang at the end of Oxford Street. Check reviews (someone on here may have an opinion). Underneath there are health and leisure facilities run by the YMCA http://www.stgiles.com/index.html

Or you could pre-arrange a day passes for a health club (eg Holmes Place - there is one on Oxford Street ) - if you pretend you are interested in joining and are going to be starting a new job just round the corner - or if you have nectar points, you could buy a Cannons gym day pass for 1,000 nectar points.

Then you could find a hotel in central london for a lot less money that doesnt have a swimming pool.
  • I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance!)
Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W

    Hope that helps
  • If you wait a while you may find that some of the chains have weekend offers in December. Hilton widely advertise 2 night offers and Holiday Inns can be booked at a reduced price if you visit https://www.ichotels.com/bbc. Thistle are another group who offer reduced prices. The BBC offer (from Gardener's World magazine) includes breakfast but you may need to clarify this.

I've just booked the hoxton hotel for october. It doesn't have a pool but is a brand new hotel. If you book through superbreaks they still have tickets at 59.99 per room per night. you can check it out at https://www.hoxtonhotels.com i think and also https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk. sorry i don't know how to do that posh link thing where you just click here.!!! it's not in central london but is a couple of mins to the nearest tube. All the other hotels i could find at the same price were seriously minging with terrible reviews so i was pleased to find this one. also if you google dinner and show you will find loads of cheap deals. I found the phantom and dinner for £30 but opted to pay full price direct to the theatre for the best seats. good luck and enjoy your trip
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

This hotel had some rooms for £1 per night a few weeks ago - all gone obviously - but they may repeat so worth keeping an eye on.
