what to do in london on an evening

Ok. So this about my tenth post on this trip! Going to london on the 8th of october for a nice romantic trip with my other half. We arrive about 2:30 on the sunday and are staying 3 nights. On the last night (tue) we are seeing the phantom (yay!!) but i'm stuck as to what to plan for the evenings or even where to go.
We are 27 and 30 years old and not really into clubbing of any sort. We like a drink and to eat out but don't want to spend too much money. In the daytimes we will be visiting as many museum's as we can as we both enjoy them.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do on the sun and mon nights? Any suggestion are welcome because i'm really stuck!! Does anyone know anything about china town, what it's like (safe?) basicly i'm just trying to think of anything.
Ideally it would be one night spent wondering round somewhere lively and interesting finding somewhere to eat and a few bars (but not p!!! Head street) and another night having a nice meal before heading back to the hotel for a bottle of vino and who knows what else!!
PLEASE HELP:D

Visit the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square in the morning and you may be able to get some cheap (half price) tickets for another show on that evening, When we did it we went to see we will rock you for half price and it was excellent
  • I like the hustle and bustle of Leicester Square. Very touristy! :D

What about the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, that sort of thing?

  • If you love food you should visit brick lane. My absoloute favourite part of London. many many restaurants and it has a nice vibe too it too. theres also plenty of places to go for a drink around spitalfields(beautiful market, see it during the day if you can) & shoreditch. Its a bit less touristy and you do get the east london feeling.

Chinatown is great and it's next to Leicester Square. You could walk over to Covent Garden from there too, there are lots of street entertainers and nice shops, restaurants and bars.

None of these places are dangerous! :D

  • Hi,

Sunday night - go to the Comedy Store and see the "Comedy Store Players", it's a a really funny evening. You can book on line (sadly haven't found a way of avoiding the booking fee) or risk it & buy on the day. It's just off Leicester Square, you can eat there (burger, chips etc which are ok actually)or anywhere nearby (there's a TGI's)

looking at the Whats on section it looks like you can apply for some free tickets on the Monday night!

There are more restaurants than you can shake a stick at and it depends on budget etc. Top table website always has lots of special deals.

If you fancy splashing out, I enjoyed the Oxo Tower - great views of London (doesn't matter that it's dark, I prefer London at night)i'd go for the Brasserie as its a bit more relaxed. You don't even need to eat there, you can just pop in for a drink

Nearer the time you can check this site for specific things going on, there's ususally something a bit different you can find to do.

If you're going to be using tubes/buses get yourself an Oyster card, it's cheaper than paying individudal fares. It also gives you access to some offers (2-1 on London eye)
