Ask away
I work for a Apple re-seller, as this place has helped me out so much I thought I should give some of my time back to it.
So if you are thinking of making the switch and need to ask anything, let me know and I will hopefuly help you were I can.

ooo yes please
Selling my sisters PC on ebay, wanting to move her to OSX so I dont have to worry about fixing stuff while im at uni!
However I heard rumours that the new mac mini is on its way, infact it might be tomorrow! Can you be any help here? Some say its a price drop, others say the low spec becomes Core Duo and the Core Duo gets a speed bump.
I'm after an intel based one due to wanting to use bootcamp to maintain some of the features my sister will need whilst slowly nudging her to full time OSX use. For a cheap machine, I presume the Mac Mini is my only option?
Lastly, what do you recommend for digital tv viewing?
Thanks

for Graphic packs, you cant beat an Apple, having used both Apple n PC, I find Apple much more stable, downside is the cost, inc software and hardware upgrades.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

For Unreal
Mac Mini - well thats all rumours, but sometimes they are right
Mac Mini is a good option as long as you have the keyboard and mouse, oh and a screen, but you look at the iMac and it becomes a better deal, ie the better graphics card, bigger hard drive and the DVD RW. Plus its an all in one machine so there is only one mains cable and the cable for the Keyboard, and the mouse goes into the keyboard! So a bit better on the cable managment.
For digital TV either the Miglia or the Elgato stuff is really good, the new Elgato memory stick that they have released recently looks cool, and the FrontRow intergration looks great.
Does that help?0 -
Hi millypede,I thought I'd ask now as I suspect you might get your innuns dated !
I have a G4 powermac AGP 450mhz,OS is tiger and the rammage is 512.
The missus wants me to put all of our VHS camcorder stuff onto DVD.What kind of hardware is best to convert the VHS to digi and can you recommend a cheap or free software to do the job ??
Cheers John.0 -
for oh_no
Ok not a major problem, the first thing you will need is a copy of imovie, something current iLife 05 or 06 will do and a Formac Studio DV, that will allow you to connect your VHS player to it and use if like a digital camcoder via iMovie, the box I think is about £100 but I would also get a external DVD RW, if you dont have one already and double the memory as the video conversion takes up a lot of RAM so at least double it, but as its quite cheep Max it out!!0 -

Hi millypede, thanks for the offer of info...
I want to set up a wireless network, for my pc laptop, and soon to be purchased MacBook. Am thinking of getting an Airport Express, but have heard that they have a tendency to die after 12-18 months. Also, do you know what the range is like? I have a 3 bed semi, but it was built in the days that they built things very solidly, so has thick brick internal walls. Will this be a problem?
Any info on when universal copy of MSOffice will be released? I understand it runs in emulator mode (Rosetta?) at moment on Intel machines. I use it a lot, and wonder if this reduces performance?
Cheers!!Waddle you do eh?0 -
An airport express is only good as a repeater or a wireless access point, if you have ADSL Broadband, its better to get a Netgear or equivalent router to give you a wireless network around the home.
So you might want an airport express to give you a better signal strength around the home.
MSOffice under intel run better under rosetta, its really weird but how quickly can you type in Word! We use it all day and have had no issues, and in some areas its much better, ie Excel and Powerpoint.0
