help needed - lost cause almost!!

hi all did post last week re house files and my sense of panic - i had never heard of such a thing and thought i couldn't do that (i'm not good with housework or routines) i have seen the error of my ways and realise that organisation will free me rather than be tied to messy house as now.

so what i would like to know is when starting cleaning routines where do i start? have already begun setting up file. What cleaning things do people recomend. House not too bad as did holiday house swap (great money saver!) so house had to be great!! like huge spring clean other than 3 boxes of panic items in loft!!

would appreciate any tips and will look back at 'moggins thread' for house file organisation. I think i thought doing this would tie me to house realise other way around (i'm hoping!)

any tips really appreciated

I thought you said house flies at first  . Everyone gets those, you just have to open a window or two and waft them out.

I have no routine or rituals for housework, I just do it when I either (a) feel like it or (b) can't ignore something e.g. a dusty mantlepiece any longer.

It depends on your lifestyle really - if you have pets that shed fur everywhere, or youngsters that walk muddy feet through the place or leave their toys spread about then obviously your priorities will be different from someone living alone.

Hope you get some better advice, but just thought I'd say Hi in passing through ;) .
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • thanks and if not any help with cleaning you made me laugh!!!

    Hi scaredy cat,

If you look in the Mega Index at the top of the board, you'll find loads of threads that should help in the Cleaning section.

Another thread that might help you get started is: Any other Flyladies around? There is also the current flylady challenge here.

Sorry for all the links but that should keep you busy until someone else comes along with more suggestions.

    Hi

Re cleaning things you'd do best starting with something like stardrops and some microfibre cloths (Can't remember where the threads are but if you search on the forum you'll find them.)

With these two items you'll be sorted, pretty much!

Can't agree more - Stardrops and microfibre cloths - one wet and one dry - it's the best way I know to clean everything and everywhere and it smells lovely too!! I read in a book about using the three box sorting system and I use this all the time now. I have three nesting crates which I keep under the stairs and when I do a room or rooms I have a chuck out crate, a car boot/charity shop crate and a put away in its proper place crate. It is amazing how much junk I always have in the chuck out crate!! I am doing the hall cloakroom this week and reckon that there are at least 100 pairs of shoes (mine and DDs') - some of which are too small, some worn out and some which are just not needed or wanted any more. I will recycle them and take some of the 50+ coats to the charity shop. I have never known a family accumulate so many clothes!!
