Last week: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=243596
Does this count as a disastrous week?
Next week's goals:
Spending below the £100 mark. Aim for £90.
Take lunch to work as many days as is practical, and certainly at least twice
Bring alcohol intake down to 21 units
Try to find a way of keeping to this (not unrealistic) aims

- Continue with spending diary. This week's maximum is £100 for everything
-- Pass-ish. If we ignore the young person's railcard and a new pair of shoes to replace the 4-year-old pair with holes in, general spending came to £101.24 - Take lunch to work at least three days
-- Failed: only managed one. Would have been two if I hadn't left a beautifully-prepared lunch on the worktop in my Monday morning rush. - Aim for at least one no-spend day
-- Failed: closest I came was £5.23. That was a train ticket and McDonalds. So there's definitely (obvious) room for improvement here. - Halve alcohol intake. Strictly no exceeding 21 units
-- Failed: more like 30. Still managed three no-alcohol days, though. Another "must do better" area. - Genuinely begin looking for a new flat.

1. At least 4 no spend days
2. Send charges claim to Barclays

er, that'll do for this week0 -
I haven't taken part in this for a while, so will try and get some stuff done this week!
1 - Have got Thursday off work, as I've gotta work Saturday, so Thursday morning ring round driving schools/instructors to get prices and try and book a trial lesson for the following week. Keep putting this off as I'm scared to start lessons again, but I know I just have to get on with it! I'm the oldest of four sisters (27yo) - my 19 year old sister has already passed and the 17 year old is talking about starting lessons soon... the 23 yo is in Australia for a year, so won't start lessons until she gets home, so hopefully I won't be the last in my family to pass my driving test!!
2 - Take packed lunch to work every day.
3 - Waiting on new 0% credit card to come through, so once it arrives, check if the balance transfer has gone through, then cancel evil Virgin credit card!
4 - Need to buy first class stamps, a birthday card, a few toiletries and send a letter air mail to Australia. Also will need to give OH £10 towards petrol to go and visit my parents on Sunday. No other spending (other than necessary food!)
5 - On Sunday, review how much money left as payday is following Thursday. See if I can transfer any small amounts left over into savings (either towards wedding or Christmas presents or split between the two.)0 -
Last week's goals:
1. File paper work - Failed! Still sitting in boxes round me - will try today
2. Submit expenses claim Failed - MUST do this
3. Start cycling. My aim is to get fit enough to cycle the 7 miles to work (and 7 miles back!) in the next 6 months (currently I would expire if I cycled a mile I think!)Failed - bike tyres flat and no pump - did do extra walking though!
4. Have two no spend daysSucceeded - actually had 4!
5. Stick to £30 for groceries (including dog food this week)Almost - £30.74!
6. Take lunch to work every day! Succeeded
7. List another 5 things on eBay - and hopefully sell some stuffSucceeded - listed more and sold at least 5!
On to this week.- Do the filing
- Do the expense claim
- Two spend free days

- List another 5 things on eBay

Oooh I like this! Right, here goes:
*Do not spend more than the money which is currently in my purse ie/ no borrowing from hubby or bank!
*Make meals from food in freezer and cupboard and not be tempted by ready meals or takeaways. Have written out menu for week so will be possible if I can remain strong.
This will do for my first proper week of moneysaving! :j"The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!" Blackadder0 -
