Hi all
I ve been buying and selling stuff on ebay for over 2 years now.Last week I won 2 items (Asda Vouchers) from 2 different sellers and these vouchers were worth £350 and £200 which I won for £255 and £175 respectively.
I paid them via paypal hoping all is going well until I found that there is no response from the sellers.
Although one seller kept in touch and sent me the vouchers worth £200,I was shocked when I took them to asda as they were worht nothing!!!!
I tried contacting the seller but he wont pick up the phone.
I am still struggling to contact the other seller and Iv raised a claim via paypal
on both case
Is there any hope that I ll get my money back.
How good is paypal in recovering funds in these instances?
Do I qualify for a refund through the ebay buyer protection?
I know i ve been a complete idiot but both sellers sounded soo genuine that i just went ahead and paid them
Is there anyhthing else that I can do like lodge a complaint wiht the police?
How do i find their full mailing address?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Put an ebay claim in immediately on both items. One for non arrival and on th eones that did arrive for fake /item not as described.
Also check out whether the sellers are still listing, if so get their contact details and give them a call just in case there is a genuine mistake.
If there is money in the paypal accounts then you should get a full refund for the vouchers that did not arrive, but it is going to be more difficult to prove a refund for the fake vouchers, but persevere. If a paypal claim fails and you backed your payment by a credit card then you can fall back on to you CC company for help. Again this should be automatic where an item has not arrived, but not quite so clear cut for the fake items.
The fake items can also be reported to the police of course, or maybe talk to Asda HO and give them the sellers details.
Good luck

Just out of curiousity, and maybe to help other people in the future who purchase vouchers, what were these vouchers? Why didn't ASDA accept them?0
-
Oh sh!te that is not good.
Having looked on ebay for clues this auction finished recently with no bids for the same thing (250012026822). new seller and interestingly from the same area of the country and cannot spell 'bargain' either!0 -
Asda told me that vouchers were not even activated and these were just picked from the tills where they are normally kept and these have no value unless someone puts money into them.
I have escalated the claim to paypal
Any idea how long they take?0 -
Were these gift cards?0
-
yes these were Asda Gift cards.
They had a bill showing £50 when the item was on ebay but I was given 4 empty and inactivated gift cards :-(((((0 -
Was one of them item 320010804100?0

How did he 'show' that they had £50 on them in his auction?csrivats wrote:yes these were Asda Gift cards.

I think if you worded these right they'd be a good scam. Somehow you have to suggest that there's money on them when in fact there's not. So you might say "balance of £250 available" the implication being that there is £250 on the card when in fact all you are saying is that you can put £250 of your own money onto the card.0

Maybe it's me but I would NEVER buy any form of vouchers of Ebay.matto wrote:I think if you worded these right they'd be a good scam. I am too suspicious of anyone selling them
Let's be real why would someone sell an Asda gift card with £50 on it?
We all have to eat so wouldn't they go and spend it themsleves.
I could more understand someone selling clothing vouchers but would suspect they could be fakes or stolen.
I use to work in Topshop and we would have the serial numbers of all vouchers stolen or purchased fraudently.
If someone tried to use them they would be confiscated.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j
