That thread only references the standard tariff which offers unlimited landline calls to UK and Ireland ONLY.

    Am I missing something?

Looks like they are having to offer these tariffs as VoIP Stunt etc put them to shame.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Did you not see the contradiction there?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I suppose VoIP Stunt and the others in the group could get away with saying 300 free minutes per week, as although you need to top up with credit, that credit isn't taken for the 'free calls' the credit is still available for use on chargeable calls.

With Vonage, that £7.99 per month pays for the inclusive calls, any chargeable calls are extra cost.

For me £2 per month for 1,200 mins and being able to use that £2 on chargeable calls is better value. Though they have stopped issuing an incoming number at the moment, still I'm alright I do have a number from them.

Strange how Vonage fans seem to consistently fail to mention

    The activation Fee £9.99

The Shipping and Handling fee £8.99 for the FREE? router.

    Then theirs

The expensive UK mobile rates: Day 15p Evening 10p Weekend 5p.

The dear Intl Rates to non free Intl Destinations.

The absence of Ngn prices on their site.

NGN prices are now shown: http://www.vonage.co.uk/help.php?article=1082&category=58&nav=6

Fair point about the setup charges, I would have expected them to be on the advert.

Blimey their NGN 0845/0870 rates are dear.

Also noticed this in their T&C.

4.11 If you accept a special offer or other promotion, such as a free month of service, a rebate or other incentive, there may be a term commitment associated with the benefit you accepted. The commitment period will be disclosed as part of the promotion. If you terminate service prior to the end of the commitment period, you agree to pay Vonage a recovery fee for the promotion/special offer you accepted. Recovery fees are cumulative and in addition to any other charges or fees you may owe Vonage. Each recovery fee is an amount equal to the difference between the price you paid and the regular price of the goods or service at the time you accepted the promotion/special offer.

Advert did say forever and no contract but worth checking if some one takes it up. I've decided to stick with 18185 as I would need to drop my BT phone line to take advantage. :)
  • Surely there must be some vonage customers out there who can tell us about the service and whether they think it is good value. What is the best alternative to Vonage where you can also have a Geographic No. on your incoming line
