Natwest Blue Visa Debit Card

Options
I have been sent a Blue Visa Debit card on my Currentplus account, is this the same as the Visa Debit issued on Step Accounts ?, I ask as I have found I cannot use it in Pay@Pumps but I am not sure if it will work on a train (And I don't want to try incase it does not !), does anyone know where this card won't work so I don't get embarrased trying !.

Thanks.

It wont work on a train, plane or pay pump.
If you have a card that displays the Visa Debit logo and the card does not display a cheque guarantee hologram you will only be able to use your card at a retailer or supplier of services where they can authorise the transaction at the time of the transaction being made. If this is not possible the transaction will be declined.

I wonder if when CG gets phased out whether all cards will become online auth only??!!

What will happen to the payments for the pumps, train and planes then?

That may be the case for NatWest/RBS Group, however my LTSB card does not have a CG facility either, but does work at all pay at pumps, and have used it for tickets and snacks on trains.

There needs to be transparency on this, as no-one can know for sure if their card will be accepted. Maybe a message on the back of the card?

Well the last time I flew from London to Belfast I was able to use my mobile to call home and tell someone to pick me up at the airport flying over the isle of mann:D

So if i can do that theres no reason why the card machine can't phone home too and check you can pay for whatever it is your purchasing, The same would apply for a train. Any Pay@Pump accepts full auth cards, its just the banks that block them. My Coventry card works fine in them and its full auth.

But I have a Barclays cash card account debit card and I can use this at petrol pumps...... so it must be bank specific?

My A&L Visa Debit on my Current and Premier accounts has no CGC yet both work on trains and at pay@pump yet my Blue Natwest card on my current account does not, so yes it is very confusing and depending on the situation could be embarrising.
