I had a quick play around today with a HTC Hero which i really liked and im thinking of getting one. Only thing is, are there wide range of apps and games for the phone, and if so where do you get them from?

And also like a iphone, can you jailbreak a HTC?

    As far as I'm aware, you don't need to jailbreak a Hero in the same way you do an iPhone. As for the apps, the Hero runs the Android operating system so you need to google Android Market to find both free and paid for apps.

    You can access the Android Market straight from the phone. Many apps, most are free. Being an ex iPhone owner I would say, personally, that Android is far better.

    You can 'jailbreak' a Hero, but in the Android world it's called 'rooting'

    It enables you to load custom ROM's with extra features, and use apps that require SuperUser privileges.
  • This'll give you some idea of what's available;
    http://www.androlib.com/topofday.aspx,
    but there are other 'app markets' as well.
  • Htcapps.com has a starter pack section which will give you an idea of the capabilities the HTC phones have.
