hello everybody,

Ive not posted in a while, but I was wondering if you lovely lot could please help me.

How do i set up a premium rate telephone number ?

Google it, I hear you cry.... but no.... its a minefield out there, theres about a millions companies all trying to rip you off and I was hoping that somebody could recommend one that was half decent and doesnt rip you off.

Does anybody know the cost involved and do they then take a percentage of the revenue generated, or how does it work.

I was going to post this under "saucy new job" but that thread has arms and legs, so ive opted for up your income and the telephone boards instead.

Any help woudl be appreciated. Cheers, A

  • Funny how millions of companies seem to be trying to rip you off setting up a premium rate number when in actuality a premium rate number is a rip-off in itself.

I have only had to use a premium rate number once and that was to get a fax. The company set their fax send to the slowest - 4.8kbps, when fax minimum transfers are usually 9.6kbps or 14.4kbps, and increasingly common is 28.8kbps. It took ages and I only did it because it was absolutely essential.

As this is a forum dedicated to money saving, I am not sure you will get much support or many advocates, but this is my twopenneth-worth anyway.

Are you aware the need to register with Phone Pay Plus if you get one.

Yeh, I have done that today which is free and its a simple web form so thats fine.

Its actually knowing who to buy it from thats concerning me...

And the first persons comments are absolutely justified and I think that most people think the same, but from reading the saucy new job thread, it would be nice to cut out the middle man, or least as much of the middle man as possible.

Can't you go through your phone company? Or is that the middle man so to speak?
