No buying toiletries in March challenge!

Options
I'm a long time reader that's finally joined up and started posting. Hello! :j

I've really enjoyed reading the January and Februay threads. Hope this isn't too off topic. Just wanted to say that if you have toiletries you're not realistically going to use then please consider donating them to your local homeless shelter. There are lots of shelters in towns and cities all over the country and toiletries are a donation that they really, really welcome.

Thanks :o

I don't have anything I haven't opened, and part used/tried... thats the problem...
  • It doesn't matter! I've donated opened bottles or part-used packs/ tubes etc and they're always very gratefully received. It makes a huge difference to people who need all the help they can get, and is a good way to have a good clear out at home :)

Thats amazing! well, thats certainly something to do then!

Thank you ! I had no idea that part used stuff would be acceptable...that makes me happy, its terrible to have stuff I don't like wasting away till the end of a challenge, to probably end up in the bin when it could help someone! Thank you!

Well after a couple of slip ups in February, hopefully i can make it through March without having to buy any toiletries. I will get some toiletries in March but they will be items purchased in Feb so that won't count.

Happy 1st of March everyone and hope everyones day goes well.

I'm hoping to find out about a promotion today at work but not certain it will be today - fingers crossed!

I know I said it last month but I will try to be good in March although we fly to Tenerife in three weeks and I can imagine that I will treat myself to something in Duty Free or on the plane. I am planning to buy something whilst I'm there as well. Last year we found a shop called Fund Grube that sold Decleor skincare. At the time they had two promotions on - 1) everything had 25% off and 2) if you bought 2 or more products you got an extra 20% off your purchases. I came away with a Herbal Clay Mask and a bottle of Ylang Ylang oil. I want to repurchase them both having used up the mask and being on the last drop of the oil.

I will try to promise that I don't buy anything else this month which should be easy considering we fly out on 26 March. I can't see that I need anything else as I bought a couple of travel sizes at weekend and have other things in stock although may need some new sun cream (does this count?).

Although it was technically in February I did finish a bottle of Aussie Conditioner last night. Have two more bottles in stock though so don't need to purchase a replacement. x
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Cosmetics won't make me look fabulous this week, I have a cold sore:(

I was reading the Boots thread about "voupons" and "wombling":p I wish Boots in Ireland had self service tills. We don't so no "wombling" for me.

I'm another long time lurker that wanted to say hello.

Spotted the old thread right at the start of Feb and it gave me the inspiration to finally start using up the bathroom stuff that's been sitting around for ages. Don't have a stash but can't wait to be rid of all the unwanted 'gifts' so I can finally buy the products I want instead of using the left overs my family no longer wanted.
  • Posting this for my own benefit really, you don't need to read this.

    My stash as of 01/03/10:

    Shampoo (7):
VO5 elixir, inecto coconut, Alberto Balsam mandarin, The Blonde solid shampoo, I Love Juicy, Rehab, Big (all from lush).

    Conditioner (3):
Lush American Cream, Alberto Balsam Raspberry, Inecto coconut

    Body wash (10):
Lush Happy Hippy x2, Lush Yummy, S&G Clean girls, S&G Clean on me, Lush Rock Star soap, Body Shop cocoa butter x4 (!!!)

    Body moisturiser (5):
S&G Daily smooth, S&G Righteous Butter, BS cocoa butter (and two Lush massage bars, Each Peach and Heavanilli)

    Face Wash (3):
BS passionfruit, S&G hot cloth, Lush Fresh Farmacy.

Products OUT in Feb: 5 (3 sold on ebay, 1 used, 1 returned)
    Products IN in Feb: 11
Conclusion: BAD MONTH!! Must try harder!!
