Secondhand car recommendations for £2000?

Options
My car has just been written off and I'm basically looking for a new car. My budget is £2200 max and I need something which is economical. I had a V reg ford fiesta ghia but fancy something a bit bigger as I do 40 miles a day to get to work and most of that is motorway miles. Insurance isn't too much of a problem as I have NCD and am over 25. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Thanks

Cheers :) I've been looking at Autotrader for the past couple of days and I'm just dreading buying a new car. There appear to be some in there at very reasonable prices but I'm just concerned in case they aren't genuine in some way.Mine might have been old but I'd had it for 18 months and there was nothing wrong with it. The thought of possibly getting ripped off is uppermost in my mind and I'm worried about getting stitched up.

If you are concerned about buying a duffer, you have a degree of protection when buying from a trader, you can also ask RAC/AA to do an inspection of the car for you too :D

What caused your fester to be written off? (just being nosey)

Including various Rover electrical problems, although some did have BMW engines.

    ???????????

Rover did fit Honda engines to some of their models however that was the earlier generation. R75s are all fitted with the K series or KV6 - NOT beemer engines.

Also, what electrical problems? Rovers are not known for electrical probs.

The R75 is a very very very nice car to drive and very comfy indeed but if we are looking at Rovers, I reckon a 45 might be a bit more suited to the OP
