hi all i'm currently writing this from my phone my comp constantly freezes after about a minute or 2 of use. I'm using ie its been going on since yesterday mainly. I run malware and ccleaner last week and all was fine. And i defragged it too. I notice that the acer memory is almost full but the data memory is almost free of any use i have cleaned out as much memory as i can but its saying 10% memory free on acer. Now bearing in mind the comp will only work for a min or 2 is there something i can quickly do or look at to try to sort it. I've also tried using ctl alt and delete to reboot it but that doesn't do nothing at all i have to resort to taking the battery off the comp for about ten mins and cross my fingers. Thanks for any suggestions guys.

Slightly confused by this...0 -
you tried starting up in safe mode? sounds to me like you go too much running in startup have you looked in there to see what going on?
also what antiviris are you running? is its possiable you have changed and not cleared out all of the old one?
lastly and most importantly what ram do you have in it? and what os if is? if is vista this is very resource intensive espically on the ram runs double compared with xp so start adding in some progs at startup and ram can't cope.0 -
I would agree the start in safe mode option and have a look around, if it goes for more than two minutes then the start up program list would be the next place to look
Have you just installed some new software? If so that may be the problem, and if you are running ok in safe mode you can uninstall it. If still a problem then use the last system restore point
It could (and this is a long shot so don't panic) be something overheating inside the PC. The graphics card or the processor cooling fans may be clogged with dust (it has happened to me), so no cool air is getting to them causing the problem. If desktop, unplug it all, open it up and CAREFULLY clean the fans. If a laptop, then might have to take to a pro for the cleaning (unless anyone else can advise)

Do any of the recovery options in this thread help...covers both XP and Vista (with screenshots).
To boot from the CD you may need to go into the BIOS and set the boot order. When you first boot up.. watch the screen for the key to press to get into setup. Normally it will be Del, Esc, F1 or F2.0 -
hi its running windows one live care i haven't installed anything new nor downloaded anything. The start up page is the same as normal nothings been added to it. When i put about the one memory being almost full and the other almost empty i noticed it when you click comp from start under that it says acer c and data its the data thats got loads of space for use in it. I will have a look at re starting it now and trying your f8 suggestion from your thread. I will let you know what happens cheers guys.always send a smile as it costs nothing..

When you went into safe mode, you might have changed your resolution.
go back into safe mode and drop the monitor resolution down a bit.
It might also be you want to re-install the graphic card drivers when in safe mode.0 -
does that mean im permanently stuck in safe mode now??always send a smile as it costs nothing..

I cannot remember how exactly (have done it lots of times in past) but you should get some sort of prompt when you log off in safe mode to save your settings. i.e. Those settings which you are in safe mode become your standard settings. So when you boot up as normal the pc boots up and you are able to re-customize it.
Have you made a change to your screen display resolution in safe mode.
Say from 800x600 to 1024x768.
Then when you log off you should get a prompt to save settings and hopefully normal boot up should be ok.0 -
i cant find screen display resolution as i cannot access control panel lots of things missing also when i have logged off the comp and back on 3 times and tried to load ie not in safe mode im getting a completely blank page only opening in safe mode is an option that works nowalways send a smile as it costs nothing..
