dla medical

I have a doctor coming tomorrow at 10am for dla medical and I feel a bit stupid asking this and I don`t know what to do.Normally I am not dressed before 11 on a good day but can often be later. So should I throw on some clothes or overcome my embarrassment of talking to a complete stranger in my dressing gown.

Hello, I don't know your condition. Mine leaves me very 'stiff' in the morning. I usually wear loose trousers and T shirts; (I don't like floating round in my jammies; just my preference). If you feel uncomfortable about being in your dressing gown maybe you could have a quick shower and put on something easy to wear? But, be sure to tell the doctor about your 'normal' day.
If you need help to dress etc I'd leave things as they are.

Thanks for your quick reply.I have hyper mobility syndrome, cervical spondylosis and arthritis as well as other problems but these are the things which make getting moving hard.I think I`ll go with the quick bath(I have a bath lift) and put on something comfortable to wear0

Be sure and tell the doctor you have made an extra effort. Hope it all goes well.0

Personally, if not getting dressed is normal, I wouldn't get dressed. They want to see how you are on a normal day.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

If you do, as said above, please make sure to explain you have got dressed because you had a visitor, and you would not normally do so!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

I agree with sh1305 - they want to see how you are on a 'normal' day. You say that you would embarraseed talking to a complete stranger in your dressing gown - he/she is a doctor!
Obviously it's up to you but if you point out that you have made an extra effort to get dressed for their visit, perhaps that would suggest that you could make this effort every day?!

Thank you all for your help. I think I`m just going to stay in my dressing gown because I also suffer from ibs and I`ve no doubt I`ll spend tomorrow morning in the toilet. The appointment was originally for 2pm by which time I would have been dressed and have the ibs under control but I got a phone call late on friday changing it :mad:0

I didn't realise they did medicals for dla. Is this a new thing?. I have been on dla for nearly 3 yrs and never had a medical. When I was on just incapacity benefit I was called for a medical every year.0

They sometimes ask for a medical when you apply or renew. It's not everyone."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0
