Disgusted with Vodafone - PAYG Mobile Broadband

I'm pretty annoyed right now, and vodafone have probably lost a customer.A little while ago, I was looking at various PAYG mobile broadband deals, and settled on Vodafone as they were the only provider where the top up didn't expire after a month. Due to money issues (student loan not coming in until now), I decided to leave it until after the new year. I come back, and from what I can see, vodafone have now changed their policy, and now the top ups expire after 30 days.
I seriously cannot believe people put up with this crap. It is simply disgusting that these top ups are allowed to expire. Networks don't do this with normal PAYG top ups, so why should they be allowed to do it for data?
Are there any PAYG mobile broadband deals where the top up doesn't expire left? I know about the O2 / T-mobile pay per day ones, but I'd rather pay for the data used (as I do not want checking email to cost me £2).
quick edit - from looking around, it looks like if I can get my hands on on of the older modems (seems some sites are still selling them), then the old T&C's apply and so the top ups do not expire. I still think vodafone have made a huge mistake here.

Does that not make you to blame for faffing about? If there's no expiry why didn't you buy before?
Yes, I think it was 28 December 2009 Vodafone changed their service but you can still buy the old type if you look around and if you dig deep enough you'll see Vodafone still sell them as the 1GB flavour.
I have a 1GB type and it'll always be non-expiring as I understand it. It is an excellent service and it's a real shame it's gone but it's simply down to Vodafone wanting more money obviously.

I've got one of the "non-expiring" PAYG dongles.
I do hope that they do not change it.
I'm sure that the Voodofone company rep will be along soon; I'd be interested in the company response.0 -
I think that she mentioned that she didn't have any money.

And? What were the dates? If they don't have money they can go to the library and get it for free. I was just adding a bit of balance with someone slagging off Vodafone for doing what they are supposed to do. Business. Those SIMs (still around in SIM-only for ie dirt cheap) can be used anytime.
Everything in life now seems to be someone else's fault.
Vodafone have said clearly on their own forum that the 'non-expiry' type should always be that type. Obviously, if you were to change the SIM, eat it or burn it it may not work and Vodafone would be to blame. I think.0 -
I've pulled this off the Voodofone forum as it clarifies this:
Hi all,
I'd like to clear up the confusion, as I can see there's a lot of potential for mistakes to be made here.
There are two seperate propositions if you will, which have different modems, different price-plans, and different terms.
Anyone who purchased a Top Up and Go Modem prior to the 26th of December, will have the original £15 for 1GB plan, non-expiring credit. Some third-party retailers will still be stocking these part way into January.
The new PAYS Modems have an "R" on their sticker, so you can tell the difference, and give you £15 for 3GB, but credit expires after 30 days. These are now the only Top Up and Go Modems available direct from Vodafone as of the 26th of December 2009.

Yeah, 1GB still here www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/8561745/Vodafone-USB-Pre-Pay-Broadband-Dongle/Product.html
If you look around (I'm trying not to be too helpful as I've been accused of being unhelpful) you'll find Vodafone still sell it and some people even sell the SIM only (I have that in my old 3 dongle that cost £5).
The thing is, once people realise the prices will go UP big time because the 1GB is a fantastic thing as an emergency backup. If you want it for more than that then maybe thew 3GB deals are much better or the yearly pay up front like www.hotukdeals.com/item/578006/t-mobile-mobile-broadband-usb-stick
Sincere apologies if there's actually anything helpful within my post

What a total over reaction.
God help you when something serious happens.0 -
I've had a google and I can get a voodofone non-expiring dongle from a few places and even just a sim for an unlocked dongle.
So no problem.
Do you have a rant when Tesco stop a BOGOF deal the day after?
