Punjab National Bank - Not safe website!!!

Hey guys, just saw the 4% rate on the MSE site and got all excited and went to sign up on the Punjab National Bank website. Anyways so filled out my details (passport number, name, address etc etc) on the first page and pressed next.....
However i then noticed the website isn't protected. The link to the apple page leads to this - www .pnbtech.co.uk/acopn/App_Personal_Details.aspx
As im sure you will notice:
1. The link isn't HTTPS (Secure), its the normal HTTP
2. Theres no gold lock at the bottom of the window
Im quite worried any beginner hacker could of fairly easily intercepted my details via the website. Id advise caution to anyone. Fair enough if you sign up but im not taking my chances considering you need to provide all your personal details and their not being transfered safely across.

It's just the same with all these Mickey Mouse banks.
Take Barclays, for example https://apps.barclays.co.uk/moreformore/application.html?nav=f
Definitely to be avoided.

I noticed this too and decided not to pursue opening the account. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the rest of their security measures if they can't even implement the most basic precaution there is. This is an online account too! Frightening...
Good luck to those who go ahead with this.0 -

Whats wrong with barclays?
The PNB site is definitely a bit fishy - I sent them feedback once when I received phishing emails (even though I am not a customer). You should see their non UK site - its shocking.0 -
Invest with the "Punjab National Bank " ? - Good Luck, but not for me sorry.Space available for rent0

Sometimes the page itself is not https but the POST (when you send all the details on the form to the server) is. That way all the information sent to the server is SSL protected.
But doesn't look like this happens in this case. Insecure web design - if they miss this basic principal, makes you wonder what else they have missed.0 -
If you are really concerned about security don't use IE8 -that's the biggest security risk of all :rolleyes:Sorry, yes it does have the padlock. It was the fact that IE8 didn't identify it as a secure site by displaying the URL in green that fooled me, though it doesn't always show them that way.

I think I'll give that a miss too.0

I find Apple's Safari is faster, and more pleasing to the eye than Firefox.0 -
Only Extended Validation certificates will make the address bar green, but all should show the padlock.Sorry, yes it does have the padlock. It was the fact that IE8 didn't identify it as a secure site by displaying the URL in green that fooled me, though it doesn't always show them that way.
