Hi, I would like to be benefit of the Boiler Scrappage Scheme
my actual boyler qualified as G by sedbuk list:
but when I do the Eligibility Check doesn't seen to be:

We had our old 25 year old boiler removed 8 months ago, but have not yet replaced it. Will we be eligible for the scheme? Wish I'd have hung onto the old one now

I have looked on the Energy Saving Trust website and it seems that our 1982 system qualifies for the £400 grant. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to register online, expect lots of people are on their site. I have emailed them and their reply "Thank you for contacting the Energy Saving Trust. We will respond to you within five working days.

I doubt very much if any grants will still be available after their five working days.
I can't get through on 0800512012 either.

I've just checked my boiler to see if I can get the grant - its F rated and 73% efficient. Gutted, its almost there but not quite! Its a double hit, coz now I know that my boiler is costing me a lot more than an efficient one would...0

Some of you need to stop and consider if it is really worth changing the boiler for the sake of saving a few £ on your gas bills. Generally speaking a lot of the old boilers are a lot more reliable than modern condensing boilers. Could be a case of better the devil you know.
Investigate first how much an upgrade is going to cost you - then look at your monthly bills and how much you are likely to shave off your gas consumption. If it's only a 20% saving of a £35 a month bill, that's £7. How long will it take you to save the initial investment - if ever?0 -
I was thinking the same thing, I have a 'G' boiler but the British Gas website says I could save £156 a year with a new boiler, or about £2,500 over its lifetine. If it costs me £2000+ to get a new one, is it really worth it?!0

Not to mention the repairs!
As said many times, the old boilers rarely broke down. The electronics on modern boilers cost a fortune to repair - it normally involves replacement of a PCB at the cost of £hundreds.0 -
My parents are not sure whether to put there name down for this, they have an old 15yr baxi back boiler that heats the hot water in a tank and does the heating.

Personally no. That's when it all started going wrong for me - when I ripped out a perfectly good working Baxi back boiler and fitted a Combi which broke down 3 times in as many years (hence now having the new heat pump system).0 -
Ah rite ok... well they have a good working baxi bermuda back boiler.
YOu can also be eligible to have another back boiler fitted if its to replace one, provided you can get a few points, full details here:
