Gutted by OU news today, after 31st May people will no longer be able to pay for courses past level 1 with clubcard vouchers.
The information is only on OU site for now, not Tesco but I know a lot of people are already affected by this.
There is a group set up on facebook to collect people together to make Tesco realise how many people are affected by this

people half way through their studies find they can no longer afford to finish their degree.
 at new rules
"Important change to terms and conditions relating to payment by Tesco Rewards Tokens
The terms and conditions relating to the use of Tesco Clubcard Rewards Tokens for University courses will be changing in June. Until 31st May 2010, you can continue to use Tesco Tokens as full or part payment for any undergraduate level course that is open for registration. From 1st June 2010, Tesco Tokens may only be used as full or part payment towards Level One courses. The terms and conditions relating to refunds remain unchanged and can be viewed in full in our Conditions of Registration at www.open.ac.uk/our-student-policies."

Is this down to Tesco or is it a decision taken by the Open University?0
-
It is said to be a joint decision when the contract was up for renewal0

It's such a stupid decision.
If their goal is to get people into the OU - how does making it more expensive for people to progress to Level 2 help?0 -
There has been clairifcation also issued reagrding the cut off date;To clarify the changes to the terms and conditions of use of Tesco Clubcard Rewards Tokens for Open University course registrations, as posted to the bulletin board earlier today:
Until 31st May 2010, you can continue to use Tesco Clubcard Rewards Tokens as full or part payment for any undergraduate level course that is open for registration, which includes courses with October 2010 and February 2011 start dates, as long as registration is completed before 1st June 2010. After that date, Tokens may only be used in registrations for Level One courses.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

At the moment universities don't have the problem of getting more students, they have the problem of having enough funding to teach the students they have.
There are funding cuts for all universities and the OU is no exception.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I note your point, but why then encourage new students into study first year subjects and then leave them unable to afford the year 2 and 3 courses? It is people like myself who are half way through their degree and are now left unable to complete it because this has been withdrawn!! We don't get student loans so this funding was vital to many people. I had other members of my family kindly collect the tesco vouchers to enable me to study and complete my degree.0 -
