ryanair boarding pass - UK passengers

Just printed a boarding pass for ryanair flight having entered my UK passport details.

None of these seem to appear on the boarding pass though, except my name and nationality. Does anyone know if this is how it should be, or should other details, e.g. passport number, expiry date, be on there as well?

  • My brother is having the same problem. Entered his passport details while checking-in, but got his boarding pass printed without the details. It surprised me because I found my previous one with the details printed. I have worried about my brother so I phoned ryanair call centre in Dublin today and was informed that last Friday(18th December) they changed the system a bit and boarding passes have been being printed without passport/ID details. I was also told that airport staff has been informed about the changes so there should not be any problems with boarding. Unfortunately ryanair website does not say anything about the changes. When I phoned an airport they don't know anything about it. So I do not know finally what's going on.

I noticed the same thing on boarding cards I printed out yesterday for a trip to Dublin. I assumed that it may be because the destination was Dublin.

Anyway, not my problem. The Ryanair site printed them out that way, so they must live with it or sort it out.

This is an interesting move. It means you have one fewer obvious ways to double-check that you gave Ryanair the right details in the first place:p

However, on the plus side, I am guessing it closes down an identity theft opportunity as it cuts down on the number of used bits of paper floating about with valuable Personal Data on them.

How many of us shred our used Ryanair boarding passes? I suggest everyone always does so, even now after the boarding pass identity data have been made illegible - remember the data are still legible on a security desk scanner.

Probably it is wise to take a screenprint of the passport detail as you enter it. For your own peace of ind.

As I said earlier. The boarding cards I printed out for a trip to Dublin on 26th December had no passport details on them and they have been used without a problem.

I just printed my boarding passes out for Lanzarote next week. No passport numbers showing on them. Ryanair did agree they'd changed the system but I hope there's no hassle at the airport.

Are the passes being used without any problem?

I've just flown to Tenerife and back with Ryanair, my passport number wasn't on the boarding pass and I've had no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for that CG19a. I was a bit worried about it but you put my mind at rest.

Just peer over the security agent's shoulder as he or she scans your boarding card - you will see your passport details magically appear on their screen :p
