Anybody have any recommendations for a dect cordless twin phone set ?
Ideally would like a speaker phone on the base unit if possible, even better if you can activate it from the handset?
Dont really want to pay anymore than £50 - £80 if possible
Cheers
Pete

I just recommended the Panasonic KXTCD 212 twin DECT I use at the moment at home - it's got a pretty good speakerphone built into the handset itself.

Hello,
We have two of these at the moment, paid £60 from Currys ; I-DECT X1
They're okish, pretty basic really, but the speakphone is excellent in that it's one where the person on the other end can actually hear you. My mum is regularly plonked on the table at dinner time for a chat with my hubby and I. The speakerphone is on both phones.
Also has 10 number caller ID, where you can actually scroll through and dial them. 20 number last number dialed, again can scroll through.
The other good bit is that you can block numbers, or numbers that start with something like 07. I stopped my OH from phoning his mates on their mobiles for a while.
Overall a quirky little phone that's relatively basic but does what it does well.0 -
Thanks for the replies. another feature that would be desireable is an illuminated keypad.
phone we have at the minute is a nightmare to use at night!
Cheers

FYI - the Panasonic mentioned above has backlit screen and illuminated keypad. and has a configurable "night mode" so that one or more of your handsets automatically won't ring after a certain time. I liked mine so much I actually bought another handset for the kitchen, so I have three phones operating off one base station (though each additional handset comes with its own charging cradle, obviously).

(phone pictured is the single Panasonic KX-TCD 210 version - the KX-TCD 212 is the product code for the "twin set" Panasonic KX-TCD 210 and one additional handset)
found it even cheaper here: http://www.felko.co.uk/product.asp?pID=554&cID=11Fasthosts ruined my life0 -

Mac,
thanks for taking the trouble to post what you have. how does the battery life stand up?
am i right in saying that this phone is discontinued? if so, what about its replacement?
cheers again

no worries, my friend - I'm not usually one to harp on about stuff, but this is one of the rare occasions when something I bought from Dixons was actually any good! It looks good, feels nice, and actually bloody works!
Battery life is excellent; not sure it's quite the 12 hours talk time and 240 hours standby quoted, but I've never had one die on me mid-conversation, or found a dead handset left off the cradle (managed to get the battery down to "warning beep" low, but I just transferred the call to my other handset and carried on - plus they usually live on the cradle quite happily and I haven't noticed any reduction in battery life about a year later).
The 210 (and 220 which is the same phone but with digital answerphone if you're interested in that) have been replaced with the 7100

But in my opinion it looks horrible.
Cheapest I've found the 210 (without answerphone, but 2 handsets.) is £58.13 including VAT and delivery:

If you find it cheaper do let me know cos I might well buy in a spare set while they're still available.Fasthosts ruined my life0 -
... especially as I paid over a ton for my set this time last year
