My OH and I both ordered phones from the mobileoutlet on Monday.
He received his with a letter from Moibleoutlet with printed T&C on rear about cash back which are the same as the site - i.e.
11.0 Cash Back and Half Price Line Rental Entitlements 11.1 All cash back and half price line rental entitlements are paid in two stages; the first stage is at month 6, the second at month 12. Once you are in receipt of your sixth bill you need to forward the original bills from month 1-6 within 21 days from the bill date illustrated on your sixth bill. Where a claim is not made within this time period the cash back entitlement is lost for your 2nd due installment at month 12. To claim the second half of your cash back entitlement, forward us your 11 and 12 months bill, again this must be with 21 days from the date shown on each of these bills.
However with my phone came the l leaflet entitled "cheque back offers, how to claim your discounted line rental". This states I have to make 3 claims enclosing the vouchers with my 4th, 8th and 12 montly airtime bill. I should also send my claims within 30 days of bill date and to send photo copies of bills not originals. Claims must be sent to
Cheque Back Offers, Po Box 4259, Wednesbury. WS10 7JN
This address is different to the contact address on mobileoutlet website, i.e.: 3/4 Riverdale House
Dockfield Road
Shipley
BD17 7AD
I need to ascertain who I am claiming cashback, which bills are required, who I have a contract with and to which address I am sending it.
My OH did not have the same voucher form in his pack although both of us had an invoice from Vanilla Mobile Services. Is he correct to assume he claims cash back per the letter at month 6, 11 & 12? I think so.
Both of us had Sales Invoices headed up:
Vanilla Mobile fulfillment services. They quote a website on the invoices but you cannot access it - https://www.vanillamobile.co.uk/support

The Wednesbury address is the central cashback location for E2Save, OSPS and CPW......and then the window licker said to me...0
-
So does that mean that mobileoutlet have passed my order on to CPW?

This is most interesting.....
I too purchased a phone from Mobile Outlet on Monday, and received it today (Motorola V3 RAZR BTW).
Besides the phone, I only received one A3 white envelope containing two items:-- A standard letter from Mobile Outlet, with the T&Cs on the back
- A Sales invoice, ostensible from 'Vanilla Mobile Fulfilment Services.
"The mobile Outlet has fulfilled your mobile phone through its trusted partner Vanilla Mobile fulfilment services.
If you experience any difficulties with the goods received please follow the instructions found within the Vanilla Mobile Welcome Pack.
Inside your Vanilla Mobile Welcome Pack you will find your invoice."
Hmmmm.....- What exactly IS this 'Vanilla Mobile Welcome Pack'?
As I said, I only received the above two items in a single envelope. - And if I 'experience any difficulties' what instructions do I follow?
There aren't any, other than on the invoice it says visit https://www.vanillamobile.co.uk/support
But......that link doesn't work!
If you go to https://www.vanillamobile.co.uk you're actually taken to a portal requiring a login and password - clearly I don't have one of those.
This web page simply reads:
" Welcome to the Vanilla Mobile Fulfilment Portal. Please login to begin selling or Sign up here."
Well, I clicked on the 'Sign up Here' link.
This takes you to a page where you appear to be able to sign up with Vanilla Mobile. But why? What do they do for you?
Well....in the middle of the page is another link for Terms and Conditions so I clicked on that. And things started to become clearer.....
The first sentence gives it away!
"The Carphone Warehouse Limited...trading as Vanilla Mobile....."
So! It seems that CPW have started a sideline effectively franchising off the sale of their phones. They allow companies/individuals to contract with Vanilla Mobile, and set up their own branded web site to effectively sell mobiles on behalf of CPW. Indeed, reading through the T&Cs you can see that CPW will even provide a fully functional website, which the 'franchisee' only has to brand to their own liking.
Not sure exactly what's in it for CPW other than to sell phones to people who maybe wouldn't buy direct off of CPW but would off a third party (although effectively buying off of CPW anyway).
The problem is who is our contract with? It's not clear from the two items I have received. I'm guessing it's with MobileOutlet who themselves have a contract with Vanilla Mobile (aka CPW).
I'm guessing a lot more Mobile phone company are going to start popping up, all using 'Vanilla Mobile' (ie. CPW) as the actual supplier. Indeed, I think I read elsewhere on the MSE site that someone had spotted several companies with similar-looking websites. Not surprising if they have both used the same proforma website supplied by Vanilla Mobile, and simply branded it with their own logos.
So.......I feel a little bit 'more' comfortable about my purchase, in that it involves a 'reputable' (?) large company such as CPW. However I am also a little bit 'less' comfortable, since it's not clear who I am contracted with, and I suspect that if anything happens to MobileOutlet I will have no legal claim against CPW.
Hmmmmm....interesting setup though.....
Cheers,
Don

I too had the Motorolla RAZR V3 on Orange. My OH went for the L7 (also on orange).
I have sent an email to mobileoutlet asking them who my contract is with and who I claim cash back from.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

If you have purchased your handset from mobile outlet you need to follow the instructions on their website, do not send your cashback claims to the carphone warehouse/e2save address!!!
This information was mistakenly sent out twith handsets as mobile outlets orders are fulfilled by vanilla mobile - part of carphone warehouse. they will not fulfill cashback claims for mobile outlet and will just refer you on to them!!
so just to clarify... Claim from mobile outlet and follow THEIR instructions on their website to avoid delays in claiming.0 -
It is not a secret - Vanilla Mobile are an order fulfilment service from CPW - effectively they enable you to set up your own mobile shop online and they then process the orders.
They are not the only ones - Caudwell (Phones4u) have Dextra Solutions.
Any contract is with the retailer that you buy from (in your case Mobile Outlet) and therefore you need to check the T&Cs there - it seems you may have been sent wrong information by mistake (Mobile Outlet answer some queries on the discussion boards therefore may be worth asking on that thread, or they may answer on here).

As I previously posted last June MO confirmed my cashback was per their site's T&C. In November I sucessfully submitted my 2 cash back claims for month 1-6. Payment was late from them, and I had to remind them around Christmas time but in early January I received £360 by BAC into my bank account.:T Very happy bunny and I now have to send off month 11 and then month 12 bill for the final £360.
There is another thread running - it's a long one, almost 800 posts, tha MO are (or should I say were until a couple of newbies started arguing on the thread) responding to cashback queries. Worth checking out if you are having problems as they have provided a direct email address.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
