hi not sure if anyone will be able to point me in the right direction
but everytime i put my heating on i get this noise ( have done since moved into house 5 yrs ago)
now my bil is a corgi regestered gas enginer and plummer (handy u would think)
when he was in the house one day i asked him about the noise, he said my pump was on way out (not to worry easy/cheap to sort) well 5 yrs later and i am still waitin ( have actuly got used to the noise and we dont hear it now, its only when visitors ask what the noise is we notice,)
also we keep reptiles so didnt use the heatin that much, as house was warm from there tanks, but scince havin to move them into attic, ( needed 3rd room back for baby) i have had to use heatin more, so really need to get it fixed ( cant put heatin on low durin night, as to nosiy)
my bil is useless, he still hasnt got back to me even tho i ask almost every week ( must adimit i forget about in the summer)
i cant afford for somone to come out unless i really have to.
does anyone know if it can be replace ourself? my brl says its a 5 min job but i cant wait anylonger, the heating system was replaced but the council about 10 yrs ago ( think prev owner bought it just after it was done,) when i got fire serviced last yr, it was the person that fitter the boiler he said i shouldnt need new boiler ect for a while ( which glad about as cant afford one, and wouldnt get any help with the cost)
anyone have any sugestions as i think it will totaly pack in this winter (sometimes u have to turn it on and off then on again for t to work, no noise, no heatin)

You should really ask in the 'in my home' forum as there a few plumbers who give good advice.
It is not that difficult(in theory) to change a pump. Shut off water to pump, disconect electrical connection and undo couplings.
In practice it is often a lot more difficult as there can be quite a bit of corrosion on old pumps and there is plenty of potential for leaks.
Unless you are experienced at DIY, with the correct tools, I wouldn't attempt it yourself.

the heating over night is more for my 15 week old, (she keeps gettin cold)
as i cant wrap her up anymore that i do and the last few nights have been really cold.
our attic is insulated (due to the repiles in there) it has the normal loft stuff the council put in when they had it, dh has boxed off a room in our attic with plasterboard and it is lined with the silver bubble wrap insulation stuff.
as for the walls tbh i have no idea, but i cannot afford to redo it, and we are a upstairs flat. so (might be wrong but would we not end up paying for downs stairs gettin done, as i guess they fill from bottom to top)PROUD MUM OF 3 george, matthew and laura
