Of course its news - lots of people are interested - and these are unique figures not published before about a cultural issue that 14m people watch - and a huge number spend 35p a time on. You'll see X-factor covered in every broadsheet and on TV and radio news constantly
News and all work is about shades of light and dark and this helps the mix. Looking at our last five stories X-factor, Iphone price, pension credit, air fares, and current accounts that's nice balance to me.

i agree it's news - i'm fascinated to know who was actually most and least popular, as we never find it out otherwise. perhaps i'm just sad........
quite concerned to see the twins second most popular. do you think people are using their free votes to do joke votes - i'm not sure that many people would actually pay to vote for them!!!!0 -
I'm certainly interested! It creates a variation as well as reporting on something that is featured in almost every daily newspaper.
Is there somewhere we can view who polled the most votes in previous weeks?
That information is something that isn't reported in the press generally so well done MSE for uncovering that, it makes it all the more interesting to see how the content of the media coverage and the actual performances affect the public vote.

I'm also interested to know if the previous weeks' votes via free2Call have been counted for each act.
This week's figures appear to be accurate and reflect the wider public vote via the normal usual routes, at least as far as the bottom 2 are concerned anyway, namely Lloyd & Rachel. They were in the sing off.
It went to deadlock and Rachel was bottom and went !

Looking at this list, although the bottom two are correct, I would question whether this vote count (from Free2call free votes cast) accurately reflects the broader picture.
Think that this list reflects a certain demographic of older voters (perhaps all MSEs?!) as Danyl & Olly do so well, whereas if you polled 10,000 teenagers I am certain that Stacey, Joe & LLoyd would be higher.
Of course, these votes are valid but I suspect that a lot of MSEs would not normally spend their money this way. I'm so ahem...thrifty that, despite being very vocal about who I like & dislike on X Factor, I rarely vote until the last few weeks at all.
Very interesting to see the figures, but they aren't the whole story and should be treated as such.
(BTW - What happpens if you try to vote & the allocation of votes has gone? Does it tell you, or would you be charged? See I'm being "thrifty" again!)0 -

I think it is skewed somewhat. People are likely to vote for John and Edward for free because of the "vote for the worst" scenario. Just look at the forum for people claiming they'll vote for them even though they admit they are terrible.
I can't think of any other reason why they stay in each week, but for "vote for the worst" suggestions, and if the vote is free it's far more likely to happen. IMHO!0 -
Just remember that the X-factor works on a transferable vote. Those that voted for Rachael this week will transfer their votes to another act and so on.0
