Post Office broadband extra , any good ?

iam thinking of moving to the Post Office broadband extra, are they any good , i have been told that its is bt just re branded p/o is this true ?
i would be gratefully of any comments from current broadband users of the p/o.

Yes it's a BT Wholesale service.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I am currently with plusnet thats bt wholesale service i think? and i dnt have any slow down at peak periods and there is no congestion at my exchange. so in theory i should get the same sort of speed.?
the reason i am wanting to move i want unlimited b/b ,
i can not find any cheaper my exchange is market 1 and no llu, phone and unlimited b/b 25 per month seems gd price to me

I'm on PO - a good value no frills service. The modem supplied by the PO is pretty rubbish too in terms of dropping wifi but 99% of the time it is fine. Service is average - it definitely slows sometimes, probably due to high contention ratios somewhere down the line.0 -
Punto123, If you haven't yet made your mind up who to go with, I strongly suggest you D-O-N-'T use the PO. I booked a fault call on Monday as my connection speed has dropped to almost half since last weekend. Was told up to 72 hrs then BT wld contact. I called yesterday 4 TIMES and STILL was (it appears) being lyed to or their agents are not trained sufficiently! Anyway, after 3 call since 13:00hrs today and on the phone for 1hr 42 in total, I'm told that BT had checked and couldn't find a fault... PO said they would reject and re-book the fault for BT to come to the house. My experience with the PO agents, both customer care and the engineers (guys that take the fault calls?) is VERY POOR. They WON'T give a straight answer! I really tried hard not to lose my rag, I didn't swear (wanted to!) I didn't call anyone names (very tempted to) and still I've got to wait now until BT decide they will take on the fault. A WEEK since I noticed the speed drastically dropped and 5 days since FIRST reported the fault. In the mean time, I'm still on 1/2 speed connection.
Whats more, I believe there's a 1 year contract with the PO for broadband connections.

If there's no LLU and market 1 exchange, you will not really find a truly unlimited service. Have you considered upgrading to Plusnet Premium, which is the 80GB service?No free lunch, and no free laptop

The reason you get no slowdown is because Plusnet have usage caps and employ packet shaping. I'd not buy anything at or from the PO except errr. stamps. That's the only thing they actually have control of (excluding strike action).
Anything they sell is just rebadged tat in the main. They are good for some things (pay your phone bill/ADSL bill over the counter) but their prices seem very high to me. Sayingthat so do TalkTalk's now.

We are with Post Office as it's a rural area and our choice was BT or Post Office or another rebranded service....
Post Office came out as one of the cheapest in our area, if we'dgone wiith BT we'd be looking at £30 odd a month....
Speed so far seems pretty steady, whether it's very fast or not I coulnd't tell you as we moved from a block of flats sharing a line and to us anything faster than what we had to suffer is great...:rotfl:
I know people say shop around, you'll find much better but when you're limited to just rebranded and BT there isn't much option. My mum has the same problem and she went with BT as she thought they were reliable, well known brand etc.......4 moths later and we have only just solved her problems with BT, they were hell on earth to deal with....0
