Can't work out this ebayer history at all

I'm selling a couple of things which finish today and the same bidder is top at present for both. No problem as its free postage so will save me some money as well. As you do I had a quick look at their feedback profile and its confused me totally.
They have just over 100 feedbacks all positive. Good so far
However they have a history of buying of over 1400 items. 1300 of these were from one clothing company. First thought was shill bidding but the large majority of these items were one bid only so not shilling. Feedback buildup by the clothing company was my next thought but that doesn't hold as they would only get one positive and anyway they have over 20000 feedback anyway. The clothing is all different sizes so not for the same person.
They don't sell clothes on ebay so perhaps running a shop?

Definately a shill bidding account... what would make you think otherwise?0

Because they bid is the only bid therefore not bidding against anybody else.0

they bid someones items up to the price they want them to go for, like a free reserve price,0

What's the point of shill bidding if you are the only bidder and you actually win the item?:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
So ... what, you really think they won 1,300 of their own items. What would be the point of that, exactly :rolleyes:fatherazhara wrote: »they bid someones items up to the price they want them to go for, like a free reserve price,Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Um, we are talking ebay here aren't we because I am not sure you understand how it works.
Opening price of say £9.99 , the item cannot physically go for less than that ..bidder A bids any amount at all above £9.99 and if no other bidder bids against them then bidder A wins item at opening price. If this was a shill then all seller has done is to end up paying FVFs which makes this less than cost effective.

Which is why I am curious as to what they are doing. they won both my items, still waiting for payment.0 -

On another thread I mentioned that I have a buyer buying completely random things from me. The quantities are nowhere near as many as this instance, but to a casual observor it must look odd.
Many years ago I was selling a range of ladies outfits and I had a buyer then buy anything at all that I listed, as long as it only ever went for start price. I could guarantee that as soon as I listed i would get bids in on everything.
In the end i phoned him I knew he lived in Scotland and it transpired that my stock was cheaper than the wholesaler he had found as I sent stuff RM and the wholesaler used a courier. He was running a party plan business for these items and wanted anything I could get. In the end for around a 4 month period (whilst the fashion lasted) I bought in London, invoiced him my purchase costs + my profit element and shipped direct. I just completely removed that item from ebay as I figured that having a regular buyer made up for the fact that it all went for minimum price rather than have to pay listing fees FVFs on the off chance i might get a second bidder.
However for a while my stats must have looked very very dodgy, dozens of items, all dfferent sizes and many in multiples all going to one bidder. However, the quantities you mention don't even fit that pattern really.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If it is a legitimate buyer from a legitimate seller and all evidence points to this being such then if I were the seller I would be doing just what you do and contact the buyer to set up a more direct selling route avoiding ebay charges. Given the items never get more than one bid, and whilst I'm no fashion expert, looking at the flowery dresses I can see why there is not a great deal of interest out there.
Anyway, weekend over and back to the real world.0 -
Someone once brought 25 items buy it now from me in the space of 15mins. Paid for it straight away in paypal. I had to refund about £20 in postage because they had not waited for an invoice with postage discount applied. Never brought from me again. Never heard from them. Never left feedback!0
