Egg CC: pre-ticked box for PPI

Hi,
I took out an Egg CC in 2003. Am I right in thinking that pre 2006, the PPI box may have been pre-ticked? I will submit a SAR but unsure quite how you would prove that?
Has anyone had any joy with claiming against Egg under these circumstances?
Thanks!

Hi Portofino.
Good luck with this and also on the SAR as well.
It is quite a possibility, just like Lloyds tsb to what I am aware of, so it would not surprise me at all.
There are many as you may be aware that have complaints against EGG, I am sure they will post up shortly with their experience.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
FInally, someone else who suspects the PPI box was pre-ticked!
I have made two compaints to Egg, initially via phone, and I specifically mentioned a concern about the box being pre-ticked. They wroteto me within a week saying, "sorry, your fault...blah blah blah". They included a screenshot of their computer screen saying, "look, this box here says you have PPI, if you'd left the PPI box unticked, it wouldn't say this would it?!"
This was about a much use as a chocolate teapot proving their side.
So I wrote back, putting more emphasis on the fact I suspected the box was pre-ticked and/or had suspect wording which led me to believe it needed to be ticked.
They wrote back saying "no, you're still wrong, it's your fault etc etc, and just to shut you up here's a screenshot of our website and the PPI box that you have to tick, so stop writing to us!".
What they seem tohave failed to address both times is that I wanted them to show me that i'm wrong, that the box wasn't pre-ticked, but they failed to do this, so I'm going to shove the FOS up their posterior, and hope it gives them a PPI enema so to speak...0 -
Good luck then with FOS and hope justice prevails.0

Hi Guys,
I have just opened my own thread on this, exactly the same only with MBNA credit card. They have sent me a copy of the credit agreement which I signed for and dated (17th April 2001) BUT the box has been ticked!! And I know that I never ticked it. I never would. Ever. The question is -what do I do now?? I know I never ticked and I think some sneaky so and so at their end has done this but I have no way to prove it? I just don't know what to do or how to go forward with this?0 -

I forgot to mention that the Egg applications are online, and don't concern box pre-ticked on a paper application.
And regards them sending me copies of their website as it is now, how do I get them to prove to me it wasn't pre-ticked in 2001?
Will the FOS force this golden drop of info out of them??0 -

This is mentioned a lot on here in regards of online applications, it is the fact of your word against their's but despite that I think there have still been success as well, so not to worry, you just give as much information as you can to support your case, and the FOS will still consider this, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
There seems to be some refunding going on with Egg CCs from what I can see on the site. I reckon if they can't prove that it wasn't pre-ticked, we stand a chance! Plus with the fine they had..
Def worth a shot!0
